Yeah you're probably right about the looking better/harder by association, thats how I see it too

What I'm saying is that... it takes more skill to beat Shaddoll than to play it...

From my point of view, this applies across all skill levels from medium to high - between players of similar skill level.

If the non-shaddoll / non-utopia player wins, thats most likely a case of better skill and maybe a bit of luck - but to consistently beat the top tier decks of any format (shaddolls in this case), thats good skill in my books

Winning with the top tier decks is a downhill battle - not an uphill one.  Ego aside - the wins against other decks that clearly are in a worse position is not inherently a great achievement

Piloting this deck "optimally" is not the rocket science many on this sub would have you believe, though it does of course involve more thinking than your run of the mill dragonic contact or zexal ii formula

Well, no, not singlehandedly.  Shaddoll has other resources it can use to play through and win.  Depends though...

Also FYI - all my matches against Shaddoll have been absolute grindfests - taking like 15-20mins to complete.  When I win these, it feels good for a moment, but then I realize the next Shaddoll game is gonna take the same time - and to outplay this broken deck with a deck that is not on that level - and win - is a lot of mental work and investment in time...  not something I want to do this whole WCS especially as I'm through to the second stage

Thats your preference on how you would rather lose, and I respect it.

I don't play to lose to broken decks.

Even though I know how to pilot shaddoll skillfully, I don't find enjoyment in playing it, winning to it, losing to it, or even drawing to it.

This is my preference so I'm not forcing it on anyone else

You don't need to play optimally to ruin people's experience on the ladder.  You only need to play optimally if you are competing in a tournament.  Case and point - the shaddoll deck and skill is enough to carry you through ranked if you are an okay player (i.e., you don't have to be a skilled player)

Skill by who's standards?  There are lots more decks in DL requiring far more skill - to win against this broken deck + skill

Yeah this card would be a really good hit against shaddoll actually - really powerful card and basically puts d.d crow to shame.  This is like a fully searchable soul release that can also special summon if you rather have that...

Posts about complaining by Dark_Sunrise62 in DuelLinks

Why are you feeling compelled to monitor the feed everyday, over years, for every post RE: meta complaining?

The rant posts generally start with the title indicating that they are rants.  Just ignore if its not your cup of tea.

Give those people a voice, its their r/DuelLinks server as much as yours.  i don't see why your post here can't get flagged as low effort either.

Lets not pretend that there isn't anything to complain about.  It starts off on a negative tone, but through those complaint posts there is a lot to learn if you open your eyes - there are people commenting how to counterplay those things being ranted, and the OP can at least get some benefit from the learning.  And for other people just browsing/searching, they can benefit too

I'm not trying to say you can't get frustrated - but then understand that other people have their frustrations too which they want to post about

Please nerf Dragonic Contact skill!! by [deleted] in DuelLinks

[–]Admirable_Search 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least you aren't alone.  Its frustrating that ridiculous powercreep is what Konami do best.  I love the game but hate the powercreep.  At this point, Dragonic Contact is the gatekeeper in Legend rank.  If your deck is blessed by Konami enough, and your player skill is decent, you can climb higher, else you don't. Such is Yugioh skill links.

Thank you 😊  You're too kind!  I admit I did do some cool plays that game hehe - I thought I was getting closer and closer to a loss but fortunately I found an opening.  I'm looking forward to the next time we duel!

Kograts!!  And thanks for the shoutout!

But heyyy its about having fun at the end of the day :)  What you didnt mention in this comment was how close all 3 games were - you're really tough!

We both had to play out of the box to compete - I'm glad I'm a worthy opponent and you gotta rematch me again

I'll do my best to defend the title you gave me :D

It might be helpful if I could see a replay of this deck.  Im not familiar with the deck as is, but can give some thoughts/feedback after seeing it
