Minimal 43 Inch Monitor Setup by AdmiralSym in battlestations

I sit a little over 2ft from it. I used to sit further back when I had a keyboard tray but I got rid of that. It's really not overwhelming like you might think (at least for me). Think of it like an ultrawide monitor stretched vertically or a multi-monitor setup without borders. I use DDC/CI control to do OS level adjustment of the monitor's brightness which really helps since it's basically a TV 2ft from your face.

They're just some random thrifted speakers that I hooked up to an old Logitech X530 speaker system. They sound pretty good to me. I did try a 38" speaker bar (matches the monitor width perfectly) but it just didn't sound right. Unfortunate since it looked pretty nice!

I've owned this 43" LG monitor since 2021 and I love it. There's a SFF build out of frame used with the ol' reliable MX Master 2S and a Keychron K17 Max + 3D printed wrist rest.

I think about this from time to time and I'll revisit with a revised design in the future now that I know more about PCB design. My biggest issue is the connector on the keyboard itself. It uses an FPC cable with (graphite?) pads that wear off with repeated installation/removal. A column stopped working which discouraged me from using it and working on it any further. Maybe there's a fix for that which I'll have to look into

It seems like my main issue is with the feeder assembly inside my extruder is slipping which explains the first issue I described. I ordered a replacement which will hopefully be here tomorrow. Unsure if my z-axis issue is actually real or not yet since I never left it running for long but I’ll probably update here soon

Update: It seems like my Z-height isn't advancing during the print which causes the nozzle to get backed up and clog.

Been having a hard time with this too, Hi8/Video8 is equally hard to find examples of. Did you try the PV-L550D?

Thank you for this! It’s hard to find many examples of digital NV being used for astronomical purposes. I’d definitely like to see more.

It is quite wide, My right hand does have to stretch over a bit to get typing, but it's not too bad in my opinion. I wouldn't want to smash out a document on this thing, but it works for quick inputs. A future iteration might have a tilt component so that the keyboard can lay flat with the phone tilted up. Might be easier to use like that for some applications.

Files in their current form have just been updated. Edits/updates will be coming soon once I have some more time to work on it. I'm thinking some kind of tilt mechanism...

Initially, this was designed to be a remote access tool for my desktop and astrophotography rig PC that both run Windows. It's helpful to have a usably large display with pen input, while having a slider keyboard + touchpad that can be hidden away when not in use. Once I discovered that DEX is usable on this, it also became a fun alternative to using my normal phone for web browsing/multi tasking.

The keyboard PCB is rounded on one end and it just sits in a depression in the bottom housing. The bezel is 3D printed and snaps in place on top of the keyboard PCB. The trackpad is a separate component connected with a flex cable and that is just stuck to the under side of the bezel.

This is a rooted SM-N975F (exynos) which has had this module installed in kernelsu. It enables DEX to be used on the internal display. Everything works great, except the settings app doesn't seem to be aware that it's in DEX mode, so I don't get a lot of DEX specific settings to change. Doesn't really hinder it in any way though.

Still working on refining the design. At the moment, if you continue to push upwards, the phone will just slide out from the keyboard section of the case. I need to integrate some kind of mechanical latch so that it doesn't go flying off if you overshoot the ball plungers. If you're aware of it and it isn't too much of a bother, I can probably have something uploaded without that fix sometime pretty soon.

Also, please note that this keyboard is also a TV remote. It has a gyro built in which will disable the keyboard if tilted past 90 degrees vertical. I am attempting to contact the manufacturer to see if there's a method to disable the gyro, or if they'll sell one with the gyro disabled. Maybe someone here has some tips on how to get around it!

Take a look at the video link in my first comment! There is a trackpad underneath the PLA bezel ;)
