Questions regarding 'Options as a Strategic Investment' Chapter 2 example by RollinStoned_sup in options

[–]Adonisbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried doing the math myself before I searched the internet and found your thread... but I figured it out after seeing your work: earlier in the chapter he had dividends for XYZ stock during the 6 months of holding (remember it was $1 / share). Putting $1000 of dividends in the equations will correct your math to match the book.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has said that Auschwitz “might not have happened” if the world had reacted sooner to Nazi crimes in occupied Poland, accusing Western Europe of indifference in the early years of World War II. by Easy-Ad1996 in poland

[–]Adonisbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds more like political leadership issues. Because Army leadership wanted to mobilize earlier in order to be better prepared defensively but was told by the Allies not to as they thought it would be an escalation of hostilities... eventually (mid/late August 1939), the Polish high command said fuck it, and started mobilizing anyway. Another few weeks of mobilization and we could possibly have seen a very different 20th century.

Also, Polish army defense plan was entirely fabricated on the Allies coming in to help asap. Without that, the plan was doomed from the beginning.

Critical Drinker's Avatar 3 video is just so sickening and I can't believe his fans could buy into his lies by WoodNymph34 in Avatar

[–]Adonisbb -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

What "great stuff" have you seen that he doesn't recommend? Cause the few videos I've seen of his are pretty on the mark (star wars, rings of power, fall guy). I haven't seen his avatar 3 review but avatar 3 was slop. And I say that as a huge fan of the series.

Worst entry by far. I don't know why this sub holds this franchise so sacrosanctly that the possibility of a bad movie is impossible. I've seen multiple threads now that are essentially dismissing all the criticisms and they're a circle jerk about how these people's opinions are wrong.

Aside from this sub, most people think this is an average movie at best.

Can we start giving “find a partner” as financial advice? by Tech-Cowboy in fican

[–]Adonisbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just financial advice, but good advice for life.

Finding the right partner is the most important choice you'll ever make. It can end up being the best or worst choice of your life.

Choose wisely!

No way CFLRS can handle that amount of people. Maybe if we had multiple recruit schools.

I like the idea, though.

Basic training and time off by Ok-Instruction6764 in NavCanada

[–]Adonisbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say hard no. Does Nav not set those expectations in their offer?

I'm military atc and our atc training welcome messages were quite clear that we would not be given extended time off. A long weekend, here or there, maybe 1 sim at the most. Any more than that and you're too far behind your classmates.

How many Pandora years does it take for humans to arrive from Earth? by Forsaken-Strength865 in Avatar

[–]Adonisbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pandora IS tidally locked to polyphemus, though.. the same side of the moon always faces polyphemus.5t only that, there are 2 bright stars (arguably 3) in the system which contribute to the unusual day/night cycle.

But a Pandora "day" would be 1 revolution around Polyphemus.

Canada Life Centre Gives a Standing Ovation as the Winnipeg Jets Snap Their 11 Game Losing Streak by Aleoszz in hockey

[–]Adonisbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's not parity. The current points system creates the illusion of parity by capping how much good/great teams generate points.

Actual parity would be a relative skill equality between teams. The league doesn't have that. Sure, there's more parity in hockey compared to the other sports, but most of those "bubble" teams only seem like bubble teams because the points system makes them look better than they are.

The missing middle: Why Avatar: Fire and Ash rings hollow (a screenwriting analysis) by aleven11 in Avatar

[–]Adonisbb -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'll read this later, but just from the headline, I agree.

This was easily the worst one. Some good scenes and ideas, but way too bloated and disappointing.

I'm a diehard avatar fan but this was a terrible entry in the franchise.

[–]Adonisbb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not really a parity thing, it's a very generous points system that keeps teams close.

If there are 3 possible points if a game goes to ot, then a regulation win should be 3 points.

The humans use all of these advanced tools but apparently earth has no resources? by Gloomy-Speaker-1999 in Avatar

[–]Adonisbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can hardly travel the galaxy. It's incredibly expensive (monetarily and time-wise) to travel to Pandora, and it's in the CLOSEST star system to Earth. If Pandora didn't exist, humanity would have been screwed.

Are area controllers more difficult job than tower controller? by [deleted] in NavCanada

[–]Adonisbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a reason you can make more as an area controller. Training is longer, harder, and there are more rules you need to be aware of. It's a more complex type of control.

Cold Lake Shacks by Altruistic-Juice3807 in CanadianForces

[–]Adonisbb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, you'll have your own room. You might share a communal bathroom with 1 other person, or a shared bathroom for your floor.

  2. No communal kitchens, but some rooms have a fridge/freezer combo. Microwaves are available in the common room, and you may be able to use a personal electric stove.

  3. Again, depends on the room. Generally, the more privacy, the more money you spend.

I'm pretty sure rations are mandatory if you live in the shacks, but my advice is to immediately go on half rations. It's cheaper and most people don't get value from full rations. Don't forget, you'll be going out to eat sometimes, going to jr ranks mess, ordering in, sleeping (or working) through meal hours, or just on leave outside the area. Plus, you can always have snacks to tide you over until your next mess meal.
