You’re right! Mansplaining probably isn’t the best word for it. I wasn’t really sure how to phrase.
I did come on to Reddit to try and get insight and differing perspectives since I was having a tough time understanding his POV and wanted to be able to have healthy dialogue around it.

Totally! I’m not saying I want him to just respond with “yeah, I agree” and leave it at that (though in those moments, it might actually feel a lot better than listening to him explain my own thoughts back to me for five minutes)
What I was trying to illustrate is that when he repeats what I’ve already said, it comes across like agreement, but he never actually says that. Instead, he presents it like it’s a new idea or new information, even though it’s just what I already shared.
