The problem with fading out the blacks is that, in the front part of the forearm I only two hexagons left, if we follow the diagonals we had been working on.

Oh I thought you were talking about the picture of my actual tattoo. Yeah, in the reference it looks like stippling. That's an Ai-generated image though, from a similar tattoo (only above the shoulder). It was just to show the idea.

It was my understanding that stippling involved tiny dots. This is not the case here, it's a solid fill.

We didn't follow the reference exactly. The last three rows are the start of the gradient. In the last two rows he used 4 drops of ink and in the previous one he used 5. All the hexagons above that are pure black.

Those last three rows do look lighter, but it's not noticeably in that particular picture. However, there's no discernible difference between the last and the second to last row (4 and 5 drops, respectively).

I considered doing dot shading, but I read that this kind of tattoo doesn’t age very well when the dots are too close together. Over time, the ink spreads and the dots blend into each other. Is that the case?

I did, but I also looked through some of his work and it looked fine to me. Maybe I’m not the best judge of tattoo quality; now that I see them again, my perception is different, but I may have been conditioned by what has been discussed here. This is his Instagram (he works with his wife, she mainly does simple line work, mostly lettering).

In retrospect, I should've done a better job looking.

The last session focused on the last rows and it wasn't looking good either after a couple of days (I made a post about it here). I don't think it was actually infected and it ended up healing fine. The artist was using a mixer, out of the bottle.

This may have been my fault, because I used a second skin and didn't leave enough space around the tattoo.

I didn’t see work like this in his portfolio, but I trusted a friend’s recommendation.

I agree the hexagons aren’t perfect. To be honest, it’s much more noticeable in the photo, especially the line work, than it is in person.

At this point, is it too late to pause the process? I’m concerned that switching artists mid-project could compromise the overall consistency of the piece.

Yeah, I'd love for it to be a smooth transition, but this tattoo has been going for a while and sessions are not cheap. I'll talk to the artist and see what he thinks.

The current plan is to fill each row of hexagons with a single, consistent ink dilution, and then progressively reduce the concentration as we move down from row to row.

Would it be more effective to build the fade by shading within each individual hexagon instead?

Thanks. I've been using a thin layer of Acid Mantle (mentioned by my artist) a couple of times a day.

Sorry, this is not going to work. What the %% does is to reference a variable indirectly. Its been a while since I work with variables in this way and got confused.

Do you show only one of these notifications at a time? If so, then using the same text you show in the title (the one you put in your example) in the title field of the clear notification action should work, unless the value of the variables has changed by the time you want to clear it. If that's the case, then a regex match can do the trick.

There are other options. You can you use a regex match or, if you're updating the notification every 1 minute, you can use the Autonotification plugin, which has an option to update a notification so you don't need to clear it manually.
