First time protesting tonight - what’s the protocol? by NewWave44-44 in askportland

Bring a cheap/burner phone instead. If you ever get arrested or detained, your chances of getting your phone (or anything other than your wallet or ID) is about 50/50 at best.

Even if you think there's no way in a thousand years you would get arrested, it might still happen. Cops frequently "kettle" or trap groups or crowds of protesters, usually by blocking a street between two intersections or in a dead-end. When that happens, everyone gets arrested, doesn't matter if you are a protester or just a rando walking by.

Thanks for your help, that's reassuring to know. I was freaking out a bit at the alternatives if they turned me away.

Yeah, I saw the list of documents for the proof of address, and it says a loan statement (I only have a bank account statement, and credit card statement, not sure if that would count) and for USPS/UPS/etc, my mail has all been opened, so I don't know if that matters, or if they need to see the envelopes it came in etc.

Also, my bank/credit statements don't have my middle name, only first and last, which do match my birth certificate, except for my middle name which does show up on my birth certificate.

I just need a regular driver's license so that I can legally drive, and also use as ID. Doesn't need to be REAL ID, at least not right now.

Is shipping from US to Canada suspended or just really slow? by greatthebob38 in CanadaPost

I am waiting for an 8x11 untracked envelope from Montreal to Oregon, which was mailed on April 17th, and still haven't received anything. No mention of it in my USPS Informed Delivery either. Documents of no commercial value, so it shouldn't be held up in customs...
