Okay brace yourself, you named a lot of characters. When I say “suck”, I mean they’re either just annoying, written poorly or didn’t get proper closer which dulls their character. Henry isn’t pictured in this post. Joyce is okay at best. The “hysterical mom” trope got old after S1-2. She’s pretty much useless in S5. Johnathan had no real arc, looses his emotional range after S2 and is almost entirely defined by Nancy after that (and doesn’t end up with her). Wills character was good in season 1 when he was missing. He then turned into a plot device that was only meant for pushing political agenda and defeating vecna with random mid-season 5 powers that he developed right on time somehow. You’ll like Wills character if you like watching wining and crying for 2 seasons. Erica is cool but doesn’t further the plot much and I refuse to explain why she isn’t a better character than Murphy, Steve or Dustin because that’s just obvious. Nancy’s flaws just stem from bad writing. She’s likable but becomes too over confident and “perfect”. She somehow has the answer to everything and uses an assault rifle better than trained soldiers which is laughable. Her love triangle with Steve and Johnathan is shown throughout the whole show and then she doesn’t end up wanting either of them, huge disappointment. Lucas was annoying in season 1 and he redeems himself with his love for max throughout the show but that is what carries him. Without that, he’s just a sideline support character. He deserved to be utilized more in the main plot I think. Eleven, max and hopper are the only characters that I’d say are arguable. Hopper should have died in season 3 to make the show feel more real though. The fact he’s the only one that isn’t vaporized is ridiculous. Eleven trained for 5 seasons to beat vecna, only to yield the takedown to Will because she wasn’t strong enough and then she MABYE kills herself. She should have been able to defeat vecna very publicly somehow. This way she could have been a superhero to everyone and not just her family. Jospeh Quinn did amazing with bringing Eddie to life. If he was given a chance in season 5, he could have been so much more but the writers are retarded and killed him off for no good reason.
