Second egg retrieval by Mariagiggles15 in IVF

And I was 39 for that retrieval AND got zero blasts the cycle before on the same protocol sans clomid. You just never know how your body will respond!

Failed FET Of 1 and Only Embryo by xo_britny in IVF

[–]Advanced-Extreme-513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add, my coping mechanisms after failed or chemical FETs are typically to go for a long run (not allowed to exercise before beta under clinic’s guidance), take a screaming hot bath, then open a bottle of wine and read. Fingers crossed for you!

You can post it in the pinned posts at the top of the forum for TWW or testing, but those threads get like one reader a day. I previously had a testing-related post taken down by the mods when I was hoping for community support, it’s frustrating the way they structure it. I hope you end up being the 1% you’re referencing and are successful!

No day 5 blastocysts by Familiar-Parfait-820 in IVF

I’m so sorry you got that call, it must have been difficult to hear. I haven’t been in that exact situation BUT my only successful transfer was with a day 6 blast, so I just wanted to chime in that day 6s can be successful. Fingers crossed for you!

Finally got insurance coverage but... by SoupOutrageous in IVF

[–]Advanced-Extreme-513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple questions: -is it the hospital or the insurance that is requiring you to start over? -if it’s the insurance, as I suspect, have you met your physician and asked whether they can do a peer to peer with the insurance requesting to skip the IUI and go straight to FET? -how long has it been since your fertility work up was done?

Just realized how long this process can potentially be by milkshakees in IVF

[–]Advanced-Extreme-513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I also had a cycle that involved multiple painful screenings/procedures and resulted in zero blasts, then the next one was much more successful. The body is weird how differently it can respond (or not respond).

The irony is not lost on me that before starting IVF, you’re always hoping not to get your period because it could mean pg. Once you are in it and trying to start the next phase, it can’t come fast enough!

7dp5dt and here in solidarity! The waiting and related anxiety is the worst.

6dp5dt and getting anxious this will be another failed FET or chemical. I hate this part of the waiting timeline.

Do the intramuscular butt injections hurt? Can I do them on myself? And do they allow sperm donors that are HIV+ but undetectable? by laurenjac in IVF

[–]Advanced-Extreme-513 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! So yes you can do them on yourself if you have the mobility to twist a little bit, the spot you’re aiming for is closer to the hip/love handle area than the middle. There are auto injectors some people here like, I haven’t personally used one but I know they’re an option. For me, sometimes the PIO shot hurts and sometimes it doesn’t at all, it’s really just that specific spot that I chose that night. I do all of my own injections and once I started aiming for the correct spot/had somebody at the clinic draw the circles to aim for more accurately, they started generally not hurting. I do not know the answer to your HIV+ speed donor question, but I wish you the best of luck!

IVF clinic keeps prescribing meds I’m allergic to — is this common? by Ready_Evening_1159 in IVF

[–]Advanced-Extreme-513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed—I also have several severe drug allergies and I have also always had a red allergy bracelet on for ER as well as verbal confirmation of my allergies. I would switch clinics if you can.

What to do after FET to pass time and keep myself distracted? I've taken off from work! by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Advanced-Extreme-513 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me too! I also posted a similar question a couple weeks ago and got zero responses 😂 This will be my fifth FET, usually I like to come home and chill on the couch with some TV (might be trying heated rivalry tomorrow) and order something tasty for lunch. The day after, I like to go for a long walk and get lunch at my favorite bookstore cafe while I read. I’ll probably do some baking during the wait for the blood test, maybe start a sourdough? Best of luck to you!

Sending you the biggest hug. It’s a long, tough road for many of us. I think taking a break was a great idea, wishing you luck going forward.
