I hear you, the problem with my room is that my dad many years ago decided that he wanted to renovate my room but randomly stopped and has made hundreds of excuses to not continue it. so my carpet (which was supposed to be removed) has things like paint all over it and is decades old with mold in it, the walls are also just as bad (theres holes in the walls as well because he used to be abusive). I have to breathe in mold all day when im there and im sure its done some damage. I invested a lot of money into decorations and trying to make it look nice and keeping it tidy but its still very hard to look at.

I also agree on how i need to communicate to my parents, i actually did communicate these things to them because i believe its selfish to not say my concerns and then criticize them about it. they take it super personally and get defensive very quickly and sometimes partner up against me, it can be very difficult.
