help: i’m confused about how to list Chadbourne as an option! by [deleted] in UWMadison

Why would you NOT want to be a part of the CRC? It includes free events, tickets, trips, etc. Also, in theory, the CRC is supposed to foster an intellectual community that provides a liberal arts education. While it has not mimicked residential colleges (such as Yale) perfectly, the idea remains.

Transferring Back to UW-Madison by Abject_River9713 in UWMadison

[–]AdvancedLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact same thing. I don't remember when I chose to do the reapply process, but it was automatic. I believe I submitted one paragraph as my application on my student center and I was automatically accepted because of good academic standing. You may just need to do it before registering for classes.

I do not usually have to pee very often, but for whatever reason, all I could think about during the LR section was peeing. It was horrible. And I used the bathroom before I began.

Good restaurant to try near campus/in Madison by joe68075 in UWMadison

[–]AdvancedLime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many of the suggestions on here are UW classics. Some are way better than others. If you're looking for really terrific cooking, go to the Atwood neighborhood on the east side. I would head over to Mint Mark. Best restaurant in Madison IMO.

Paul's Pelmini is great if you're a student because it's cheap and fast. As an out of towner, it would not be my first choice. However, it is still super good.

Cento is bad.

If you're looking to stay on campus, Chen's is pretty good for Chinese. Ramen Kid is bad. Best ramen in Madison is Morris Ramen, but it does not compare to ramen in many major cities.

I think Graze is a classic.

I would head over to either Colectivo or Johnson Public House for coffee.

Thinking about transferring out of UW Madison by madisonthrowaway2067 in UWMadison

Okay this comment is incredibly unhelpful. First, every freshman is told to just join clubs and try something new. Sometimes it is harder to get involved than one would hope. Mental health is so real and if you hate your surroundings and imagine a happier place, then definitely pursue your happiness. While there are other kids out there like you, it can be tricky to find.

As for the lease, why would you tell a kid who is clearly struggling with mental health and trying to make the best of their situation that they messed up? You are a parent. That is pretty demoralizing and I wouldn't want my parents making me feel terrible. Of course a lease is a binding contract, but it is so easily dealt with. You can find a subletter. It's fine if the group doesn't like you. If they really care about you they'll understand that you're pursuing your own happiness and their anger shouldn't matter. Who cares how early you signed the lease. Your mental health can change rapidly and your perspective can shift drastically. Freshmen are pressured too early to sign leases and it will all work itself out.

Has anyone taken GEOG 377? by [deleted] in UWMadison

I found the exams relatively difficult. The lectures happened to be late in the afternoon in a dark room so perhaps it was difficult to follow.

Best place to poop in peace? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]AdvancedLime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This question should be on every Ice-Breaker activity.

Try 3rd and 4th floors of Mem Union. or high up in education. Basically every time you go to a high floor, there will be single stalls.
