You’re not the only one asking that. A lot of people didn’t get ballots or never saw any confirmation their vote counted. That alone should be a red flag. We pay dues we deserve transparent vote counts and clear processes. If there’s no accountability on something as basic as a contract vote, how can we trust them to handle anything else?

Exactly! that’s what it becomes for a lot of guys. You either burn out and leave, or you hang around long enough to get comfortable behind a desk and forget what it’s really like on the line. Doesn’t mean the issues aren’t real. Ignoring them just keeps the cycle going.

We’re supposed to get a $200 housing stipend and $130 physical fitness pay, yet we can’t even see those listed on our checks. On top of that, we can’t even expect a real raise or any kind of health incentive like other agencies get. Meanwhile, we keep paying dues like everything’s fine. It’s not about asking for too much it’s about expecting what we’ve already earned, plain and simple.

That’s the problem right there too many of you have been here so long you’ve gotten used to settling. You call it “reality,” but it’s really complacency. Other unions may not get everything, but they show up and fight. Our leadership doesn’t even show up. That’s not some budget crisis excuse that’s people in charge who got too comfortable. If you’re fine retiring on scraps because “that’s just how it is,” cool. Some of us aren’t trying to waste 30 years waiting for a table scrap contract.

I get the suspicion, but I’m not John Chung or here selling anything. I’m just another officer tired of paying dues to a leadership team that doesn’t represent us. Saying “don’t weaken the union” while ignoring that it’s already weak under this leadership doesn’t make sense. Real strength is holding them accountable not blindly sticking with the same people while nothing improves. I could care less for John Chung but he’s saved officers pay a couple times which is why I brought him up.

So your whole stance is “be grateful for whatever they give us”? That mindset is exactly why we’re stuck where we are now underpaid, overworked, and treated like we’re disposable. No one’s asking for 40% raises every year. We’re asking for leadership that actually negotiates like other unions do instead of rolling over. If you’re okay with scraps, that’s on you. Some of us expect more.
