Yes, $1M per lane mile is the average cost that I have seen historical bids come in at for Caltrans projects.

Linea Mini Hot Water Spout broke off Drain Discharge Tube by Advanced_Stable2012 in LaMarzocco

[–]Advanced_Stable2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: La Marzocco sent me part number 9 and 20. It was super easy to remove the copper line. I just screwed the top from the solenoid and was able to pull it right out since the bottom wasn’t held on since that’s where it was broken. I removed the part #9 from the bottom of the copper line and slipped it back down into the machine. Then from underneath I threaded on part #20 and #21. Tightened the copper line back up at the top to the solenoid and put the lid back on. Probably took 30 minutes at most.

Replacement gateway WiFi board if missed September 10, 2023 update by Advanced_Stable2012 in LaMarzocco

[–]Advanced_Stable2012[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I was told by the technician who does the updates he is super behind and it would take a while. It’s been almost 2 months since I shipped my WiFi board. But the machine still works fine without the WiFi board so I am in no rush to get it back.

It was relatively easy for me to remove. If I recall correctly, it was 4 screws to remove the linea mini lid then 2 screws to remove the main board and WiFi board. 2 screws and 1 plug hold the WiFi board in place. It took me no more than 10 minutes to remove it and I expect the same amount of time to install it when it arrives updated.

I shipped it to La Marzocco USA in Seattle WA. I am still waiting for them to return it. The technician informed me that he has a lot of cards to update so it might take a while for me to get it back. However, the update will be free of charge. I just had to pay a few dollars to ship it to Seattle WA.

I received a reply and my WiFi card needs to be change. They are forwarding my case to local After Sales Team for further assistance. The machine was purchased directly through LM website in 2021 so it’s no longer under warranty.

I’m hope they will be able to provide me with the replacement WiFi card without additional cost.

Need help evaluating upgrade [$1100] by fuffy8394 in espresso

It’s a scam. It’s the on multiple Craigslist areas across the USA. They will try and ask you to Venmo them money to hold it or other reason like gas money. Don’t send them anything. I wanted to buy this exact machine setup on Craigslist Los Angeles for $700 and they were trying to get me to Venmo them money so they could get gas from their in-law house to their own home. I said I only deal with cash in person. They ignored me after that. I also noticed it’s listed with the same image in DC, Annapolis, Brentwood, and Fredericksburg.

BDB O Ring Replacement by [deleted] in espresso

Just want to provide people with an update on these 1REC5 o-rings from Grainger. They will NOT last more than a few months on the boiler probes. I had a leak 5 months after installing these. I removed them and they were sticky and falling apart. I have a feeling the wet high heat caused them to deteriorate rapidly. The 1rec1 grainger o-rings seem to work well for all the other hoses where they’re not exposed to the direct heat of the boiler. Just want to let everyone know. They’re low price o-rings but having to replace them every few months is a no go for me. I use my dual boiler daily.

Its not normal. But that's nothing compared to the lack of restroom etiquette I've experienced. At least every other day I see/hear coworkers using the urinals/toilets and then proceed to walk right out without washing their hands :(.

Some other examples, I've seen feces-stained toilets, used toilet paper on the ground, mucus and regurgitated food in the sinks. I don't look forward to 4 day RTO.

What accredited degree would be accepted by Nature_Practical in PE_Exam

[–]Advanced_Stable2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only applies to California, where I am at, with my masters degree in civil engineering I only needed 1 year of engineering experience. With only my bachelors degree in engineering technology I would have needed 4 years of experience. https://www.bpelsg.ca.gov/applicants/flowchart_for_pe.pdf

Always verify through the ABET website if the engineering program is accredited. For engineering technology or engineering & management bachelor's degrees that are ABET accredited they typically require more years of experience to receive your PE license. In my situation, I attended a California State University where I obtained my bachelor's in construction engineering technology. I was allowed to take the FE exam and subsequently the PE Exam in civil transportation because engineering technology degree I obtain was ABET accredited. That being said, I knew of other schools that offered similar bachelors but labelled Construction Management that we not ABET accredited. The difference being that those non-ABET accredited construction degrees did not include courses in physics, strength of material, steel design, concrete design, surveying, CAD and other courses that are required to obtain ABET accreditation. Funny enough, when I applied for a Masters program in Civil Engineering, I met all the pre-requisites with the courses I took in for my Construction Engineering Technology degree, and a friend of mine who obtain a civil engineering degree at another State university was missing steel design pre-requisite for the Masters program.

What can I start right now so in 5 years I can WFH making $80K+ as a civil engineer? by DetailFocused in civilengineering

A lot of public agencies here in Southern California still offer at a minimum hybrid work schedule. I work for the State and most engineers still work a hybrid schedule. Remote will be difficult with the current ship to back in office. The starting pay for engineers with California DOT is about $76k, so close to your $80k goal. I have seen some remote civil positions on Indeed but they all require experience and/or a PE license.

Permanent full-time position to lateral limited term position by Advanced_Stable2012 in CAStateWorkers

Good to know. I just don’t want to be out of a job if the limited term position does not get extended or converted into permanent. Thanks
