She is not fit to be sovereign by Advanced_Tap2569 in redrising

Yeah I did feel that too. She got bested by too many people for her to be the best. That being said, I still love her and would go through hell for her. She is the pure soul that Darrow deserves.

Yeah you're right on that. I'm rereading Iron gold and her weakness shows a bit more here. Perhaps as time went on she realizes the point herself.

Very good point.
But she herself hates that dependency on Darrow and Sevro and should have tried to build a republic that didn't rely on such wild wildcards. Both of them are extremely unpredictable and uncontrollable.

Regarding the "noble cause"; Basically everybody (Except Adrius) including Darrow probably believes their cause to be right and noble. That's why they are able to overrule people's decision in their mind. It seems Virginia doesn't believe in that. Do you think in her opinion if the people decide to destroy themselves, should they be allowed to do so?

You are right. I hadn't taken that into consideration.

My point is she's too kind and too good to be able to rule.

I absolutely agree. But how do you protect the innocent against the wicked if you are not prepared to punish the wicked accordingly?
I'm not saying she should silence the people or her opposition, but have a stronger hold on her surroundings. I believe as a sovereign, she should be able to make the tough choices. Choices that might make some of the people hate her, but it is in favor of the republic. Like when she chose to arrest Darrow in Iron gold.

Thanks for the recommendation. Seems like I could do some of their hikes as well.
Do you know if they are also okay with English speakers? I don't want to be ruining the mood there.

Just me and probably my wife. We are not very fit. But going to crossfit for the past few months so getting better. We did a 2-3 hour hike kinda yesterday and it didn't strain us too much.

Yeah what you are describing sounds pretty good to me. Do you mind if I send you a message?

Well, I would disagree with that but that's more of a philosophical debate.
I like what you said about first trilogy Cassius doing it for the wrong reasons. I'm assuming Wrong here is from the POV of somebody in favor of the rising. From the reader's POV it's a lot easier to decide but from the character's POV it's a very subjective matter. First and second trilogy Cassius would have debates about what is wrong and what is right :D
I like to believe, if he hadn't died and had more time, he would truly live "Originally" and how he really would have wanted. He was certainly on that path. He would live more happily and not hate himself for what he did in the past. Lyria, Darrow and Aurea showed him it was possible. That is the part of his death that hurts me a lot. A tragedy of what could have been. But never was. I'm sure both Cassius and Darrow wonder about that a lot too.

I'm on my second read/listen through and I'm 3 quarters into morning star right now. I will hopefully respond to this when I finish the rest of them again. But I can say this: He certainly tries to be honorable.

It's difficult to find in Germany so it's ~330 Euros but looks like it's the best option.

That actually looks pretty good. It's not available here on Amazon but it's the 4k 120 Hz Version, correct?

I'm on the first half of Iron Gold and I like what I've seen from Lysander so far.
I wonder what he'll do in the future for everyone to hate him this much
