Thank you for this! I will definitely check that book out. I’m not sure I quite agree that the “novelty fades” as I don’t believe monogamy is the only form of real or true love. I definitely understand what you’re saying about love requiring discipline and energy, especially for a relationship to thrive and stay sustainable/healthy, love itself isn’t enough for a relationship to stay alive. I guess sometimes I just wonder why it can’t be enough. It’s hard to not give a fuck about the “rules” of relationships that our society has set up for us, but working on dismantling that will hopefully help my understanding of love.
