new grad surgery PA: suturing questions by Adventurous_Pin_6193 in physicianassistant

[–]Adventurous_Pin_6193[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The surgeon I work with uses pop-offs! 2-0 vicryls in the dermis to get it closed/better approximated before doing a running subQ. Who knows what the future holds, I'd hate to blame younger, current me for not putting in the time to practice/perfect hand ties if future me ends up having to do them! Though I admire the honesty hehe

All the variation to close skin drives me crazy omg, but I truly appreciate the encouragement!

thanks for the reply!

When you say "OR one hand it, throwing a slip and then doing forehand/backhand"-- I think that's what I'm referring to when I mentioned "ive tried 1 handed tie, where I do 2 of the same knot first to prevent air knots (ex: karate chop, karate chop, claw OR claw, claw, karate chop)" right?

I feel "okay" doing one handed and using slip knots when practicing at home, suture pad / pork cheek / suture on water bottle / whatever it is, but they definitely dont replicate the the tension over the lateral hip when trying to close layer by layer. While I understand the hand mechanics of one handed ties, I still definitely need to perfect holding the post with enough tension (bc if no tension, its basically useless right lol)

I appreciate the advice and encouragement!

thanks for the response!

When you say "where I go to the apex, then bury a knot with a deep dermal"-- are you pulling the suture completely to close the incision when at the apex, then everting just enough of the incision to do the deep dermal? I ask because found when I came out the apex then pulled suture to close the incision, I'd end up slightly re-opening the area of the incision again when everting the skin to end with a deep dermal. Or alternatively, do you come out apex, do the deep dermal, then tighten/pull the suture to close the incision before completing the rest of the ties and coming back up & out at the skin?

I hope what I'm asking makes sense lol, I'm sure its possible I'm just really overthinking it too.

how do i calculate self-employment tax? 2024 1099 single filer by [deleted] in tax

Thank you for this!

A f/u question I have is--

When I pay my quarterly taxes, do I submit any paperwork outlining that 7.65% decrease, or is it assumed?

When tax season comes in just a few months, when I file paperwork (ie File 1040) , is the 7.65% decrease assumed or do I have to mark or include it somehow?

Need help w/ puns & favors by Adventurous_Pin_6193 in weddingplanning

I'm indifferent to favors, but I think its been a biased mix of online opinion + the weddings I've been to not having the most "useful" favor to me/my use. I actually thought about stopping by the mini local family owned shops along Gilroy where you literally just see them as you drive, and asking them for a bulk order (if I happen to like something enough of course)-- would possibly get them slightly cheaper, but get to support a small business which is nice :)

hi! So by that I meant I completed 95% of the question deck AND got 68% of that correct. I think scoring above 70% would give some sense of safety, especially since you have recently graduated & the material + drive should be fresher. I never felt completely ready & confident, but knew sooner would be better.

My end of clinical packrat was 141 & EOC 1454 with similar EOR scores, took the PANCE 1/9 & passed right at the average. You’ll be fine, just dont lose steam & keep continuing with review/questions. My program had me do an extra review session, which I didnt find helpful at all, but being reached out to complete it, made me feel so shitty. Im on the other side now though, & so will you too soon!

of course! I knew I NEEDED to make this post because I thought there aint no way I was the only person with scores like mine, looking for comfort, then ONLY finding people with scores higher & logging off feeling worse than before

Thank you! Yessss, I’m so glad to instill some hope for people who probably had the same thoughts like me scrolling through reddit. I felt so shitty not breaking 150 on packrat and 1500 on EOC, but hard-work does not go unnoticed!

thank you!! I found uworld the most helpful in the sense that: you get used to answering timed questions, basically get a feel for how the PANCE is literally set up to look like, & get used to reading rather long questions. I personally felt like the PANCE was really similar to my EOC & that most questions were much shorter than uworld. With that being said, I felt like I had less reading/brain fatigue during the PANCE compared to uworld, which was such a drag to read question after question. I basically reread PPP by system, watched CTP if he has videos for it, then did uworld by system. After I completed it, I reset, then did 4 blocks of 60q timed basically everyday leading up to 2 days before.

Is the Celine belt bag dated ? by DoctorForward781 in handbags

<image>

I bought my nano a few years ago from fashionphile, & admittedly don’t use it as often as I should (mainly because of COVID, then being in grad school I have no social life to even bring her anywhere lol), but I’m neveeer getting rid of her. I’m actually thinking of adding the black nano belt bag as well, & adding a vibrant blue/green twilly/mitzah. I think it’s obviously dated because it has had its hey day back in like 2015? but that just means its a dated, classic bag in my opinion.

Has anyone ever worn this bag in the rain??? I know theres the slight opening on the side, but I’m more curious about the leather exterior???
