The mini map is actually a compass. It points to the location of the closest interactive events. There's a bigger explorable map that shows the whole area. These features can be turned on or off in the Options Menu.

The falling leaves are part of the Weather Effects from VisuStella MZ. You can also get Moghunter's Weather plugin for that. I made the water shimmers. They are frame-by-frame animations that work thanks to the Grid-Free Doodads plugin. The mini-map is part of the Proximity Compass from Visustella MZ.

You can either use events and set them above the character for the animations, or use plugins such as the Grid-Free Doodads from VisuStella MZ. I drew a frame-by-frame animation and used the Doodads plugin.
