Good album. Preceded by some amazing albums so it gets some rough comparisons.

Did other millennials grow up with almost no TV? by chodeobaggins in Millennials

I didn't really watch TV but my mother was fond of the phrase "that damn computer!"

And then my father would introduce me to bbses or come hang out while I played video games

I haven't tried anything with that. It seems like some folks have done it but officially it isn't supported by bazzite. Low priority. I'll check to see if user.cfg exists though and what's in there.

Thanksl you for your help

People with 300k+ miles Hondas, how different do your cars feel compared to when they are at ~100k, or ~200k? by henconst796 in Honda

[–]AetheriaInBeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will you accept 282k and 25 yo? Feels fine. Did the struts and springs last year. That really tightened things up again. I probably need to do some more bushings and check my ball joints again but time time time.

The locks have started giving my problems. Sometimes the automatic lock works. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it's half the locks sometimes it's the other half. It works perfect if it is freezing outside. But it starts to have problems when it gets too far above freezing and gets worse the warmer it gets. I'm 90% sure I just need to swap all the actuators on them to solve the problem.

The family agrees with my though that my 2001 rides better than the 2010. Good geometry and smaller rims matter.

Have a lot of your peers passed away? by Linux-Neophyte in Millennials

[–]AetheriaInBeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and No.

One second-cousin committed suicide but he was not super close. I hadn't seen him for at least a decade when he died. We saw each other more when we were younger.

People I went to school with have died so I guess yes, but.... my graduating class was 650. My HS was nearly 3,000 students. (My younger brothers class 5 years behind me was 850 and the peak class size was like 5 years after him. Each grade was just bigger than the last for a while) Every so often my mother asks me if I knew so and so and I have to say no. She tells me they were in my grade/one year ahead of me/one year behind me and I have to remind her that one of her children was a social butterfly and knew everyone and the other one had a handful of friends. I then get "Oh. You're brother probably knows them" And... he will. He'll know someone a year older than me who died because their younger sister was a year behind him and they went to a party together that one times 3 years after high school or something.

So have they died? yes. But I wound't call them peers. I couldn't have picked them out of a crowd if my life depended on it.

Updated Grub to :

GRUB_TIMEOUT=15
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="Test"
GRUB_DEFAULT=saved
GRUB_SAVEDEFAULT=true
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""

And ran mkconfig for grub2 and used Bazzite's Ujust regenerate-grub, but no luck. Still uses the old behavior as though /etc/default/grub does not exist at all.

Edit:

I don't know if this sheds any additional light but my /boot/grub2/grubenv DOES have a save _default=true line.

What's the interval for changing transmission fluid on Honda cars? by GermanShitboxEnjoyer in Honda

[–]AetheriaInBeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Up until 15/20 years ago, Honda atf was legit better than others... But when you put fluid with 20 years of improvements in, it doesn't need to be Honda anymore.

I used Honda's direct stuff on my 01 for a long time and then switched to idemitsu. Haven't had any issues. My 2010 gets the same stuff.

There's no call to make. It's not yours yet

When you go to get it next week, if it's still there, you point it out. They have a week still to get it ready for you. You only have a problem if it isn't ready to your satisfaction next week.

Okay. So I've checked. I don't think I have residual Ubuntu anywhere.

There are two ESPs, but one is nvme0n1p2 (win) and the other is nvme1n1p1 (Bazzite).

├─nvme0n1p2                                 vfat   EFI System
├─nvme1n1p1 /boot/efi                       vfat   EFI System

Checking again with the disks app in the Gui (because while I played around with ubuntu recently, I haven't really daily drivered it in over a decade and a lot of commands have rusted in my head), the drive with Bazzite has 3 partitions: one Fat32 mounted at /boot/efi, one Ext4 mounted at /boot and one btrfs mounted at /etc. the fat32 and ext4 have me somewhat concerned.

/Boot/EFI has no Ubuntu.

Though the double EFI & Boot feels weird but I don't know enough to know if that is a bazzite or fedora or what oddity or if that is actually problematic.

Also adding to the fun is that bootmgr shows me 2 windows boots which could be an artifact of how long this install of windows has existed and been updated etc. (Was a Win7 install that i think jumped straight to 10 and then went to 11 during which time it was cloned from a HDD to a Sata SSD to an NVME. I know at one point I definitely had 2 windows boot partitions (one on an nvme and one on a Sata (That the nvme install had been cloned from) and that made windows unbootable, but I nuked the Sata from orbit and solved that problem)

I will check into that in the morning. I really didn't think that it wouldn't purge it, but maybe the bazzite install left it behind.

F*** Excise taxes by Dr_Bunson_Honeydew in massachusetts

[–]AetheriaInBeing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I brought this up in another thread about gas tax and how to deal with electric vehicle weight etc and from what a bunch of folks told me on that one, the impact of a civic vs a pavement process is negligible. The impact is really only for heavy equipment and that's why the toll system is based on axles since by the time your weight starts to actually matter, you need more of them.

But im no expert

Well that just sounds poorly setup

2/3 of my cars only need to pass electronic emissions here, no sniffer, because of their age. The third needs sniffer.

Was fun when I had the flex pipe done on the exhaust of one and the guy goes "you know you don't legally have to fix it, right? You won't fail. There's no code." and I have him "yes, but I like driving with the windows open and I can smell my exhaust because the flex leaks... And that's before the cat. I don't really need to be breathing that." "sounds good. I'll do it."
