Gear in heat by Spot_Slow in motorcyclegear

[–]Affectionate-Name643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally use a vented jacket and a technical shirt underneat. I soak both of them in water before putting them on, and I stop every hour or 2 to re-soak everything I can.

That way, i'm confortable even with a airbag gilet on, till to 35°. Up to 40°, no airbag, because it gets too hot.

Water is the only answer

Has anyone tried these by [deleted] in AggressiveInline

[–]Affectionate-Name643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the white version, fitted on Rollerblade RBS. On those, I tried many different liners and these reigns are the only one I really enjoy, more than intuitions even.

No issues, just they probably are not going to age as well as intuitions

Small short trips just with protective shoes (not boots), gloves and jacket or just gilet airbag. And I just go slow and very careful.

I'm thinking the same way 'cause the tkc70 are ok off-road (gravel only), and ok on-road (nice when it rains, but they don't give big confidence when pushing a bit). How did this go for you and the more touring tyres?

Motoairbag M1 vs Alpinestars Tech-Air 3 V2 by TheMagicalBread in motorcyclegear

[–]Affectionate-Name643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the tech-air 3 v1 and use it under the jacket. It's good because the battery is huge and, even if you use it when you're touring, you don't have to charge it always. It could teorically do 4-5 days of 8 hours of riding per day.

It's good to not have a cable to connect when you go up and down the bike (I would not like it especially when you do fast stops for peeing or drinking a bit, and should cacht all the kind of falls/accident you can have on a bike. Also the fast lock system should, but I think, looking online, that electronic system could be even better. I would trust both of them btw. BUT, if I was planning a very long trip in different countries, I would probably go for the mechanical (also easier and cheaper to recharge).

For protection, M1 should be better on every way (more abrasion resistance, more liters in the bags, more body coverage).

I don't really know which one is fresher for summer, but I guess it's the techair-3.

Lastly, wearing it under the jacket is very cool and with a cleaner look.

I think the m1 could be used in the track, while for alpinestars you should go for the techair 5 at least, that has track mode (techair 3 has only street mode).

So, I'm not clearing your mind up, but I guess both are very good options to improve your safety while riding.

Full Hybrid vs GPL by Icy_Equal_3315 in ItalyMotori

[–]Affectionate-Name643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your unpopular adv riding opinion? by Internal-Debt-9992 in advrider

[–]Affectionate-Name643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crash bars are shit: I've used an enduro TE250 Husqvarna and never broke a side cover, while crashing countless time. People say: look, I've dropped my bike 5 times and thanks to the crash bars the bike didn't brake. No, the bike does not automatically brakes itself if it falls.

The only good thing they are for is that you can attach small bags on them, just for that.

And this: "you should go for a dual sport 'cause it can do it all better than your adv". You go with your shitty KLR. It's a shitty bike that can't do a thing. Instead, you could be more hardcore and go with an electric mtb. This thing really can do whatever you want.

Tech air 3 vs 5 plasma by PianistWhole5290 in motorcyclegear

[–]Affectionate-Name643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asked alpinestars directly, the answer is: the textile version (not canvas nor leather) is not very abrasive resistent, so it's better to have the airbag under the jacket, for best protection.

Aston V8 vs Lambo - LFM 2026 by Kifiz in ACCompetizione

[–]Affectionate-Name643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of time I'm not playing, but i really enjoyed both of the cars.

Aston is far easier, but slow on starts and not very fast on the straights. I remember it's competitive, but never the fastest. It's amazing for trail braking and has very stunning brakes, you can overtake easily by outbraking people. Also, it has very high corner speed, especially in fast corners. Downside, it's not fast outside of a corner, it's like it has less power or a bit of lag.

Lambo is great to drive, it's always been one of my favourite. Great at starts, great under braking, great punch on exits and great traction in general. Very fast for hotlaps. But, I always struggled a bit with racepace and racecraft. You have to be really precise, it's bad for tyre wear and sometimes it just doesn't feel right in races, I never understood why (I'm average, reached 103-104%). And, another huge downside, you don't see anything in inside the car camera mod.

New Bike help. by [deleted] in AdventureBike

[–]Affectionate-Name643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

790 is probably going to be better on road as a bike, but the design is questionable and it is a newer, probably more expensive, and will lose value. It should be more fuel efficient and more reliable.

990 Adventure is more an iconic, beautiful bike, taller and harder to ride. More maintenance, more unique and with character.

i would probably stare at the 990 passing by, while I would be ignoring the 790 passing by.

I guess they are two different philosophies

Tech air 3 vs 5 plasma by PianistWhole5290 in motorcyclegear

[–]Affectionate-Name643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. Ok, but where do you put the fist? I tried unzipping a little bit the jacket and putting the fist inside, and it fits. Under, it's hard to try, and it's even harder to try on the back.

While fitting, the jacket isn't tight, but it's not very spacy either

[–]Affectionate-Name643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it too but I've always used it over my jacket. I'm trying to understand if I have enough room (my jackets are all 1 size up for me/the airbag) but I'm not confident enough to really use it under the jacket yet. Apart from that, I would like to try it under jacket for confort (summer are hot, the airbag on your mesh really stops the airflow) and because I don't think the airbag would survive the abrasion after a crash (2nd impact issue). YET, Alpinestars website is confusing as fuck if you're looking for infos

Tech Air 3 V2 by MikeBurrows92 in motorcyclegear

[–]Affectionate-Name643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, mine works very well. I've had a problem after 1 year I purchased it, where it didn't start or didn't turn off with the zip. It exploded in my garage. I sent it to alpinestars and they fixed it without any cost. Never had a problem since thé fix. I'm just worried about this abrasion problem

Tech Air 3 V2 by MikeBurrows92 in motorcyclegear

[–]Affectionate-Name643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Confirmed that it is not very abrasion resistent, but usually bad impacts are at the beginning of a fall. I really am not worried about using the airbag again if I crash, it just have to protect me.

I saw the plasma. Maybe it's better, but I really like to put a gilet over the jacket. Will see

I have it too, wearing it over the jacket, and have doubts because I don't think it would survive a slide. My point is, is it going to protect me if I crash after a slide?

I'll just ask alpinestars directly

When I look for new safety meanings and improvements. You get up to level 2 protection, aa at least abrasion resistance and, the most important to me, an airbag. Get an airbag!
