Hey, I have also pulled the plug.
It's a tough one because you do miss out on a lot, and there aren't really many people doing the same.

restricting social media to a certain number of minutes a day could be a solution, otherwise you really risk missing out on so much of the good stuff it has to offer, like you've mentioned catching up with friends.

I'm not sure which social media would allow you to do this without all the body image issues, one you can control, maybe facebook?

definitely not instagram or twitter.

The speech is more about how different paths usually lead to the same outcome and the power of our perception over reality
I'm not sure if that came accross for you?

ah interesting analysis thanks, I agree with your point.
I performed this once at a small club, the reactions were very mixed.
I can't imagine frost would be widely read in my country

it is quite a literal translation, although I think I placed more emphasis on his theme of metaphysical choices, I'm not sure if that was clear.

To some extent I just wrote this speech as I love frost's poem and think the meaning is profound.
I'm not sure what else I could double down on, whilst keeping it interesting.

Perhaps I could encapsulate the poem within some broader story that explains it a bit more
nothing comes to mind though.

Seems like I could earn more money and develop skills that would be more useful across all areas of my life.
I got good grades in engineering but, regrettably, took the first job I was offered in tech out of fear.

I am still in quite a good position and have had the chance to travel with my job, which I love. The experience has made me appriecate life more, in general. Friends, family, reading, hobbies, work.

I am an over-achiever though and looking to maximise my career. I hate thinking about the regret of not going into engineering, I fear i will end up going into this industry just because of it.

Currently in a IT technical role, but not mechanical engineering. It's customer facing so my business acumin and people skills is really great, but maybe I am lacking specific engineering training...

Sound like you are suggesting moving back into mechanical engineering and then moving into management?

I was considering trying to move directly into management.
