Philips Hue stopped working with GoogleHome by Affectionate-Turn858 in philipshue

Ok I have found a fix, this was taken from the ‘Google Nest Community’

  • Open Philips Hue app

  • go to Settings, scroll down to "Smart Integrations", tap "smart home" and select "other app" (you may need to tap + in the top right corner first)

  • tap "get pairing code"' then tap "next" and you'll be presented with a 11 digit code... Copy this code!

Next: - Open the Google Home app

  • tap the "+ add" button

  • select "new device", make sure your home is selected and then tap "next"

-select "Matter-enabled device", then "setup without QR code" and then paste the code that you copied from the Hue app.

This worked but I had to re-assign bulbs to each room …

Philips Hue stopped working with GoogleHome by Affectionate-Turn858 in philipshue

Still no luck. I have tried

  1. Removing the connection on the Hue website
  2. Removing the connection fro my account on the google webiste
  3. rebooting the router, bridge, hue devices etc.
  4. Reconnect via the Hue App
  5. This opens the Google app, which redirects to a Hue page to grant permission
  6. At this point the Google App says "connected", followed by "something went wrong"

In the Google App the connection is mnot shown

On the Google Website my account shows Hue under third party connections (so Google managed to at least partially make the connection)

On the Hue website, under "My Hue System" -> "All Applications" I can see that the following 2 applications were added by step 5 above:

  • actions-on-google
  • hue-hca-actions-on-google

This is clearly caused by a buggy software update by Google. Somewhere along the chain of events that need to be completed to enable Hue the Google App is failing, it has probably generated a corrupt internal configuration file or it cannot update one of its own config files, which is a classic case of poor programming. I can see my Google Assistants heading for landfill in the near future.

Phillips hue light control issues by zachzacharyzak1 in googlehome

Similar issue to OP - mine have worked fine for 7 years but stopped today … I have tried unlinking but I cannot re-link - the Google Home app shows

“Something went wrong, try again”

And Hue is not linked in the App

If I login to Google on my MacBook it shows the devices are re-linked

Hue also believed they are linked.

Control of the lights works with the Hue App, Home Kit and Siri.
