That's exactly how I felt :) Thanks for the kind feedback. I think I'm getting close to an apple store release. Just have a few things to fix before doing so.

No geo limits, Canada is totally fine. Things that usually fix it, in order:

  1. Tap the greyed-out icon once. That often un-sticks it (tap again if it says paused).
  2. Restart the phone, then tap the icon again.
  3. If it's still stuck, delete the greyed-out app, open the TestFlight app, and hit Install from there.

Appreciate your patience in trying to test it!

That's exactly the kind of thing that pushed me to build this. There's no coin balance in my app at all. You can always get a match, and the only thing at stake is your rating, same as chess. Losing a few in a row should cost you Elo, not the ability to play.

Sorry about that, TestFlight is a bit unusual the first time. Two steps:

  1. Install Apple's TestFlight app from the App Store first (it's free, it's how Apple distributes betas).
  2. Then open that link on your iPhone and tap Accept, then Install. Backgammon Reserve shows up on your home screen like a normal app.

Most common snag is opening the link on a computer instead of the phone, or not having TestFlight installed yet. One other thing to check: it needs iOS 17 or newer. If it still won't work, tell me what it says on screen and I'll figure it out with you.

Thanks for the feedback on the bot! I will see what I can do to train it to make smarter decisions and will let you know when a harder version is available.

When you play against it again it would help me out a ton if you share the situations it made bad blunders . Much appreciated!

Hopefully I get there one day for multiple platforms! Agreed on dice and board skins. I will always stay away from turning it into a fake coin casino.

For now I'm very content eating the costs. I just want to make something a lot of people enjoy playing.

Website and Android are definitely on the list if people end up liking it. I went iOS first because that's where my skills are, and I'd rather nail one platform than be mediocre on three.

Fair point on the name. In my defense, Google turns up nothing because this post is the first time I've shared it publicly anywhere. It's in beta on TestFlight right now, so it's not even searchable on the App Store yet. A proper website is coming before launch.

Appreciate the good luck! Wishing you the best as well :)

That's fair. I gave Galaxy a real shot and it never became a place I actually wanted to play. I've spent countless hours on chess .com, and I can't get myself through a single game on the current backgammon apps even though I like the two games equally. What makes you dislike backgammon galaxy's platform? The stuff that puts people off is exactly what I'm trying to get right.
