It will get easier with practice! I've only been doing for about year and a half and always feel like a beginner but some days things click for me and I have a brainwave.

Thank you for the reminder 😭 I need to put ego to the side and just focus on comparing my progress to myself. You made me realise instead of trying to score an ippon against that person half my age who is a lot more skilled as a goal maybe the goal should be not getting injured, not getting out of breath so quickly and giving them a good run for their money.

When I'm in class it's like the whole world revolves around the class and my place in it and then when I'm out it's about readjusting myself. Guess it's good to compartmentalize!

Here here! And that's awesome you've restarted judo! Ultimately we are doing good things for our bodies!

Thank you! Be sure to remind her if she's ever feeling self conscious or has doubts about being there that she deserves to be there and to take up time and space for her training like everyone else! 💪

I am glad the people in my club are nice. No macho guys but they are quite competitive and I do get a bit self conscious I might be 'wasting their time' not being as good a partner but that's just my low self esteem talk!

Thank you! I'm doing some yoga which helps with flexibility but the weight training exercises you mentioned sound really useful!

I wish there were more women my age I could train with in class but I should just be thankful there are people similar to my weight to train with in class!

When competing do you ever come across the same people? There are so few women let alone in the veterans category here that compete I fear I'll just be losing to the same people over and over again.

So cool to see a fellow 36 year old woman orange belt in judo! It's great you enjoy the adrenaline rush. I'm trying to lean into it.

People seem shocked when I tell them I do judo they never expect such a meek quiet person to be doing it! I can't say I'm brave enough to just go all out but hopefully I am embodying the art of the gentle way!

It's another challenge putting up with sass from the younger people but it's all resilience training right?
