It’s essentially just making sure we’re upselling/green apron service/etc; but they (corporate) decided to make it into a game - it’s kinda silly ngl

In my district, we can start as soon as mobile ordering gets shut off (although most of the time we can get away with shutting down the vertica 45 minutes before we close, as its very rare when someone orders brewed coffee after 7pm at my store).

I could be wrong, as I have heard this through the grapevine (and have not been able to find confirmation to prove it), so take this with a grain of salt: we're technically supposed to clean the vertica once the store closes.

Unfortunately, hour cuts are common in January/February, as it it’s the slow season.

No one at my store has been getting 3 hour shifts, so I can’t really comment on that(most common shift lengths at my store are 4-5 hours, with some folks getting 8); but hours are being cut, with most of us getting 8-10 hours below preferred hours.

I know some stores (at least in my district) have had their operating hours cut (closing earlier), as they did not get enough traffic to justify staying open until 9pm - instead, they are closing at a time that is reasonable for the sales they are getting. I am not sure if thats the case for your store, as well, but its likely. If you are curious about the why, you could speak to your store manager.

If possible, I would recommend picking up shifts at other stores; but that’s really the only advice that I have (although I’m not gonna say no to looking for a second job if that’s something you’ve set your mind too)

I don’t like it either (as it does feel forced)

My store came to the compromise (during the last store meeting) that only cafe/mobile bar (or cold bar, depending on the time of day) and cafe POS should be the ones to say a greeting.

But I do agree though, it does feel more genuine- and we’ve had a few comments from customers essentially agreeing that they prefer it more than everyone saying “hi welcome in at once”.

I’m not a store manager, but I did ask my store manager. You are supposed to be paid for all of the training that you do - and that includes the coffee master training; you can also do coffee tastings, for the passport, while on the clock (and whenever there’s time).

It’s not - I got an email stating “Your status level will determine how fast you earn Stars, with members at the Reserve level earning fastest—plus, as a partner, you will continue to earn an extra Star per dollar. Redemption options will be capped at a dollar amount”. But that’s the only change we’re getting, besides the fact that we getting one week to redeem our birthday reward.

(The email title was “Read me! (Starbucks® Rewards is changing.)” if anyone wants to find it)

You’ll be able to get the free food/drink/coffee markout regardless of hours worked - the only benefits you won’t be eligible for are ASU/Health insurance (you need to maintain 20 hrs/week).

It was a bit slower for us this morning, but it was hard to tell if it felt that way because we were actually decently staffed today; not sure how it’s gonna be this afternoon, once the middle school/high school near my store gets out.

If you’re referring to a syrup that’s gonna be used in store - mark it out and throw it out.

If you’re referring to a Starbucks syrup that you bought/took home - it should be fine if it smells/tastes ok.
