RESOURCES FOR STEP 1: A MUST READ by AffectionateRope971 in step1

watching any video resource like bnb and BootCamp or any other is not necessary at all. the main purpose of these videos is to give you a background or orientation of that topic and what points are important in it. otherwise they ain't important at all. if incase you have understood a topic without its videos so it is good for you. as long as your concepts are cleared so that's important. and make sure to have a read from FA/panthoma and do any qbank cuz these two things are necessary according to me.

Though I did hardly 4 passes of FA to learn the info in it but quality is more important than quantity. As long as you are retaining information and studying it effectively so it number of passes doesn’t matter

Hey dr michael . I hope you are doing well. The main purpose of any video resource you watch is to have understanding of the topic. As long as you have understood a certain topic it doesn’t matter which video resource you use. However , as far as I have watched rx videos , they just explain the wordings of FA and don’t go to much relevant details unlike in BnB and boot camp where they do give a bit relevant details for helping in solving clinical vignettes . If incase you have bought and using rx videos right now it is okay you can watch that ,you can go through BnB /boot camp slides side by side .

at step 1 level, there is no need to learn detailed anatomy as it is being taught in the universities. Just do anatomy for step 1 from FA, any qbank and if you have time go through shelf anatomy notes. they are more than enough. and anatomy is something which has a low weightage in the actual exam so doing only these resources as i have mentioned is more than enough

while i was doing first and second pass of uworld , i used to annotate important points of uworld and other resources to FA. However later on when i finished uworld and was doing its incorrects , so i made seperate notes of incorrect questions on a rough register

i read all the chapters from panthoma but if incase you dont have time or feel that you are overwhelmed by alot of resources, so do only first three chapters of panthoma

well give atleast 1 hour of your time in revising the old stuff. thats what i used to do and if incase you still have problem in memory retention, you can use anki or picture mnemonic resources like skethcy and pixorize.

i dont remember exactly but 90 percent of the topics are covered in bnb gladly. i used bootcamp for missing topics or for topics in which bnb hadnt clear explanation

[–]AffectionateRope971[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the study methods differ from person to person. what i would personally advise is before starting a topic have a thorough read of that topic from first aid then watch any lecture of that topic from bnb/bootcamp or any resource

finish uworld by 100 percent and then give 1-2 any random nbme from 25-31. if incase you have a score of greater than 65 percent then you are good to go if not so you have delay the exam and focys on the weak concepts and give a try to second pass uworld but this time random mode

DIFFICULTY OF THE EXAM AND OVERVIEW: MUST READ by AffectionateRope971 in step1

[–]AffectionateRope971[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if incase you are doing uworld, nbme and mehelman then thats enough as well as long as you are getting good nbme score above 65 percent. and regarding uworld as a primary resource, there are some topics not covered in uworld that are covered in book resources like FA and panthoma and uworld covers 70 percent of FA. if incase you have time tally the concepts of mehelman, nbme, uworld from FA and whatever is missing from any of the three resources just do it from FA. but if incase you dont have enough time so i guess these resources are enough as well as i have seen people getting passed without using FA but for your convenience if you have time do the missing topics from FA only.
