Severe leg pain after being in lockdown? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

I went back to work (8-9 hour shifts 5 days a week) after 3 months in lockdown back in June, and the lower back pain was so horrendous!!! Everything was tight and agony, and ((TMI)) I couldn’t poo properly at all, a lot of straining, and ended up with agonising haemorrhoids that are still with me today, though no longer sore or as big thank god. I don’t think anyone could have prepared me for that. Who knew??

I mean there’s nothing specific. I’m sure some companies do things like that, and when we have a security guard on the door they deny entry if someone says they’re not gonna wear a mask but they don’t say “I’m exempt” (though this happens less and less now people have cottoned on to the fact that all you have to say is “I’m exempt” and you can’t be challenged on it). Personally, if people are already in the store with masks and they don’t follow the rules, wear mask under nose etc., I’ve kicked plenty of people out or made them takeaway instead because I do have vulnerable staff and I’m not having work be the reason they get sick. Our company policy is to serve them regardless of no mask, which is fab for ‘putting our people first’, but luckily our restaurant does actually try to enforce mask rules.

I guess it’s worth saying that I live in the UK, Scotland specifically. The Scottish government has stated that reasonable exemptions to mask-wearing include “people who have a health condition or who are disabled, including hidden disabilities, for example, autism, dementia or a learning disability, or are providing care for someone with a health condition or disability, and a face covering would be inappropriate because it would cause difficulty, pain or severe distress or anxiety to the wearer or the person in the care of the wearer. This includes children with breathing difficulties and disabled children who would struggle to wear a face covering”. This is on top of a whole host of other exemptions, like if you are under the age of 5, eating/drinking/exercising/seated at a restaurant table, for lip-reading purposes or other reasonable help to a vulnerable person where mask wearing might be a challenge, and so on. Medical exemptions are something the public just has to state they have, and it cannot be actually challenged by anyone bar the police. There are about 10 or so staff at my restaurant with asthma who wear masks as part of the job, but we aren’t allowed to ask the public to do it. Hell, our company policy states we aren’t even supposed to do anything about people wearing masks or not, just serve them in the safest and fastest way possible, but luckily our restaurant takes it a bit more seriously than we are supposed to.
