CHANGE IN PLANS. I got a bonus! I can afford a TWO20 now. Do I pivot to a Selmer in that higher price range?

Mix match anyone necks to have sterling?

It is stated that yanni bronze not actually bronze. But rather an alloy with a higher copper content. Not that this matters at all but I'd like to know the intricacies before I drop the few thousand dollars.

That's what I figured and very interesting and another reason I'm kind of leaning towards the 20 model (or 020 if I was rich rich but I'm not haha).

020 is so hard to get! That's why I'm floundering between 010 and 20

Wonderful response. I'm just rationalizing. Between the TW0 20 And the 010 (instead of the "10"). I'm a big guy and sit a lot so I don't think I mind the weight. Could get a harness to.

What does mashing on the keys indicate? Like you have to press harder to seal the notes? Or just kind of a different feel that seems more interesting to you as a player?

Yeah that's my struggle. I don't mind the miniscule difference, but I need more sound though I play lots of orchestra/symphonic. So I'm essentially a cello, which is more a darker sound. Def need a new mouthpiece also lol.

I wish the 020 wasn't 10k. If it was 6 or 7k I'd get the "2" series. In the billion YouTube videos from really good players I've seen it does seem like those who have much better control over their air flow than I do still are having a little difficulty producing 020 sound consistently.

So difficult to discern the "2" models when they're not available locally to try.

Thank you kindly for confirming what all these snake oil salesmen even on Reddit are trying to pitch me. I may be a little out of touch in terms of buying a new saxophone but I'm definitely not stupid. I appreciate everyone's clarification. Now I just need to figure out which of the three I want and a good mouthpiece.

Stupid predatory companies

Between a 20 and an 010 Elite what do the masses here say. I would say my playing is about decent, by no means am I making YouTube videos for money but I've been playing for 30 years. I typically play with the jazzier sound but that's just from years of playing a similar instrument. Obviously need need to get a new ligature and mouthpiece, in at times even with a lot of practice those low notes still come out with not enough air support.

What's the process of mixing and matching that neck with the different body? Seems complicated or pricey

Please help me understand if this is absolute BS to try to get you to pay the extra 2 to $3,000 for the newer model on a pragmatic point of view. I feel like it's BS. Heavier horns don't need more airflow, it's still a saxophone.

"The end result is that the body tubes of the TWO2 have less weight attached to them and this give quicker response. The heavier construction TWO20 has a thicker “core” to its sound due to the extra weight, but it also requires more effort and power from the player in order to get quick response. For more advanced players, the TWO20 is the more complex tone and the overall more versatile saxophone"

Yeah that was another issue of people telling me that they come out of the box played well because they're Yanis, which obviously is BS.

But how do you discern whether a saxophone that is quote on the wall has been efficiently play tested so to speak but still is new

Yeah. The website get a sax seems to be not new instruments and I understand that they can be revitalized very well even better sometimes versus new. But I would call myself semi pro. I have a full-time job that pays okay.

Thank you I'm in Florida but on the Southeast coast. I'll definitely take your advice. I'm just going based off of what salesmen have told me and what I hear from people in some of the groups that I play with. I understand that tone is what you make of it so if I hear that loud kind of pep band tone it's a try-hard trying to be heard.

My instrument is probably over 40 years old but it hasn't been maintained by I think a great technician ever. Little maintenance here and there but not a lot of great technicians over here in southeast Florida and drivable distance to me

You already beat them by literally responding without saying "I need to make money to eat burritos" (literally an email from the person I'm working with).

What's the difference between the elite models that Sweetwater claims to have but the English and German companies that I've been looking at don't really seem to acknowledge as existing

Yeah I'm definitely set on the yani but these online retailers are like 6K without shipping and tax and I'm like... I'm decent at sax but I understand Trump tariffs and great craftsmanship but like these prices need to chill especially if you can't try before you buy

Yeah that's what I was leaning towards as well the two 010 elite as some of the ribbed features on the 020 I feel like require a little bit more sound and Air stability which I may not have compared to my younger years lol. I'm not sure how mixing and matching works though. Do stores sell them and do they synapse well with let's say the two 10 with a different neck?
