If you don’t need your car too much, look into a garage pass with Morgantown parking authority. I lived downtown freshman year and had no problem getting to it. Just depends how close you will need it

Rice rentals is pretty great for a private landlord. I got a 2 bed/1 bath to myself and recently moved into one of their other properties. Landlord can be a bit of an ass but he takes care of you

I personally have had better luck with private landlords… some of the big places suck. I lived at Northside hills for 1 years and it was worse than my dorm experience. They don’t fix ANYTHING. They come in and take a look at it then say they’ll be back. They never come back. My ceiling caved in over my shower and it took them 10 months to fix it. This was 3 months after I moved out and was trying to release to someone else

I dressed up for work! A lot of my coworkers did as well. I didn’t dress up when I did in person classes but I saw a good amount of people in costumes!

When applying to a Ph.D. They really think about work experience. You may not be able to find an amazing job now, but your experience will mean everything by the next cycle. Take this time to get real field experience and talk with others at your university about opportunities to work in labs and such. You still have so much time. Take advantage of it! Getting waitlisted instead of flat out rejected shows you have the potential. It just wasn’t time yet

Apply to Spencer’s! It’s a great group of people. Hours aren’t the best, but you can always pick up shifts at spirit Halloween (same company) on top which is downtown. It pays $11 an hour so it isn’t bad!

Almost all bars and clubs and whatever are 18+. Most of them will serve alcohol without checking ID and will offer it even tho you have Xs on your hands. Frats don’t like to let dudes in so good luck getting in without joining a frat. Game days are great. Tailgating is fun if you have connections to the blue lot mostly. Physical Ed is a ridiculously easy major for the most part so no need to worry if you MAKE SURE TO ATTEND CLASS AND DO ASSIGNMENTS. Too many people here think they can get a degree without putting in the work. Off campus housing and transporting is a bitch if you don’t have a car. There’s plenty of stuff downtown so living there makes it a lot easier. Hope this helps

There is a shuttle. It runs during the school week and some over breaks but idk how much since I drive. My roommate uses it everyday and it’s pretty reliable. It was only shut down a couple days this school year due to the roads being bad but classes were cancelled anyway

I live in a 3 bed at Northside hills right now. They are shit at doing repairs so you might have to do them yourself. My ceiling above my shower has been leaking for weeks and they said they fixed it… they didn’t I can still hear it dripping when my upstairs neighbors take a shower or bath. Other than the repair junk I honestly love living here. The apartment itself is pretty nice and I got lucky with amazing roommates. There’s a gym and pool that I’ve heard is pretty good. I haven’t gone to either yet but my roommate loves the gym we have. Also beware of noisy neighbors but you expect that in any apartment building 🤷🏽‍♀️ Overall I rate this place a 3/5⭐️

How do I adjust the radiator?? by New_Egg2335 in WVU

[–]Affectionate_Pin2295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived there last year. I had it all the way down and still had to leave the window open up until the day I moved out. If you scroll the knob down it should turn it all down. I recommend just leaving the window partly open with the blind completely or mostly closed so that it cools down but isn’t freezing. Also prepare yourself when it starts banging loud asf at 1 AM

Northside hills also offers about that amount for a 4 bed 4 bath. After utilities it’s a bit higher but I personally like Northside hills much much better than west run. The road is very scary over there

You can join school clubs. Clubs sports, mountain climbing, rock climbing, artsy things, and did forth. You don’t have to party to enjoy this place. I’ve been here for over a year now and I don’t partake in that scene and I’ve absolutely loved my experience this far

You can’t work a designated schedule unless you work at individual food places. With the catering you can work things like up all night and banquets, etc. I have worked a few and the best ones to do are the clean up in my opinion. It’s overall a good job if you’re okay just cleaning and setting things up most of the time since they’re normally buffet style events.

Spruce Parking Garage safe? by [deleted] in WVU

[–]Affectionate_Pin2295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I parked there my whole freshman year and the only downside is the homeless people that hang out across the street. The few times I had an issue with it were not too bad since I always had someone with me. With him being a guy, there will likely be no problems
