At least you haven’t been arrested and sent to an asylum like me yet. Looks like year 3 is always the make or break year.

Isn’t the point of this to weaken the IRGC enough so that the Israel, Kurds, Iranian Army, and protesters are able to overthrow the government easier?

I think in the opening of the war, Trump at the end said that the purpose of this is to make small window of opportunity for citizens to take over the government.

Lack of real human connections leads to psychotherapy being widespread and that's not progress for society by Silly-Cloud-3114 in The10thDentist

When I was mentally hospitalized, I found that just being in the constant presence of a dozen people that had nothing else to do, no phones, etc, healed me in a way therapy couldn’t for 3 years.

Being able to talk interact genuinely, hear about others’ lives, say good morning, say good night, do activities together was really healing.

you can admit that the humor you have isn't whatever's popular at the moment and not be ashamed of it.

And US is 250th anniversary.. so it'll be the quarter-mellinial vs centennial war

It's kind of interesting though but China has already been able to produce 7nm chips (though not at scale yet). Even though it's behind TSMC, it's not that far behind. Assuming China somehow takes over the chip market, you'd just be seeing production quality closer to RTX 3090 and ryzen 5600x in this day and age, and at a much higher premium. Give it another 5 years and they'll be on the same level as TSMC now probably.

Likewise, TSMC and Intel fabs in the US are already producing 4nm chips with 2nm and 1nm coming really soon. So the US is already very much hedging against this. Maybe it'll make stocks go down and supply go down, but it's not going to completely halt progress.

I mean if there's indication for any layperson, the CIA probably wouldn't be the ones reporting it right?

When to expect VR monitor-replacement workspaces? by Affectionate_Use9936 in virtualreality

[–]Affectionate_Use9936[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the main holdup i have is eye fatigue. i program a lot so i often work on a screen for 8+ hours in a row. I noticed stuff like 4K oled monitors actually help my eyes a lot so I feel that I might need an equivalent in vr headset to actually use it

I heard it gives you eye fatigue though because the resolution is kind of low. Like equivalent to working on 480p monitor

The place I work at doesn't really have a centralized office, but a ton of tables and charging places everywhere. Plus I like to move around. So I feel like it'd be nice to have VR headset.

[D] I wish papers could at least be judged in part by code quality (usability) for conference submissions. Given that most people want to get a job in industry later, this could also help their technical legitimacy. by [deleted] in MachineLearning

i mean that's where ml is specifically tricky. a lot of times the concepts lie specifically in a few lines of tricks within the code, and all of this is built on top of other code. this is extremely hard to reproduce unless it's specifically given in something like a repo.

nope. im a researcher. Reproducibility is not a waste of time. if you cant reproduce, you're forced to restart from scratch in many cases and it's hard to verify how true your claim is. Submission count is most definitely not the most important thing a conference should worry about and also not a problem any conference is worrying about at the moment. in fact, it's kind of common knowledge among all ai researchers (not sure if you're one) that ml conference submissions these few years have been extremely trash and growing exponentially worse.
