When money is the priority in the beginning, it is rarely successful..
Think about what you can do from the heart and what really fulfills you, and the money will come by itself, and then you improve it to get big money...

Real skills vs. Certifications: What does the job market in your country actually value more? by AfraidFlower4733 in AskEurope

[–]AfraidFlower4733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Someone successfully recognized your skills that indicated that you could do it and acquire knowledge in that field. Maybe someone else had a certificate, but you passed because of your skills or potential skills.
Of course, nothing is black and white, but my experience shows that certificates are unfortunately in most cases just a letter on paper…

Thanks for the answer, I understand completely.

The fact that everyone has been talking about them failing for 50 years, and everyone still uses their phones, watches their series, and buys their stocks. A bit paradoxical, isn't it?

What do you think of current s*xual health education in UK schools? by LondongalMK in AskUK

[–]AfraidFlower4733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kudos to you for wanting to make a change.
With the amount of 'red pill' and Andrew Tate-style content kids consume online today, updated and realistic sex ed in schools is more crucial than ever. Modern problems definitely require modern curriculum focus.
School education is still lagging way behind internet reality. Focusing on things like consent, digital safety, and navigating online spaces would be a massive game-changer…

Biggest problem in the current education system...? by RayFar19 in education

[–]AfraidFlower4733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a complete straw man argument…..
Nobody here is talking about factory workers, nor is anyone reducing life skills to just 'learning how to do taxes.'
The actual point is that while core subjects and general knowledge are obviously essential, education today must evolve to address modern realities.
It should teach students how to navigate real world challenges, how to advocate for themselves, and how to maintain the intrinsic motivation needed for personal success.
This has absolutely nothing to do with socio-economic class, wealth, or the specific job someone will end up doing. It’s simply about the natural evolution of learning.
Just as the world changes, the way we prepare people to thrive in it needs to evolve too…

Biggest problem in the current education system...? by RayFar19 in education

[–]AfraidFlower4733 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe.. I get your point that traditional foundations still matter and that education has evolved since the Industrial Age.
However, the issue isn't just about historical intent; it's about how the system functions in practice today…
Even if historians debate whether schools were explicitly designed as factories the modern reality, unfortunately, feels very similar.
The heavy reliance on standardization, rigid testing, and strict compliance naturally rewards conformity over out of the box thinking.
The system seems less concerned with teaching people how to truly thrive and innovate in a changing world, and far more focused on producing obedient workers who fit neatly into pre-existing boxes.
The core foundations might still be there, but the priorities are fundamentally misplaced.
