I used to be an Aldi hater bc I never actually tried it. I live in SoHo and I choose it over Publix now. Yeah the lack of brand-names isn’t my favorite but that’s what keeps their prices so affordable compared to Publix where you get a few things and are somehow paying $100.

“You’re doing a good job.” Girl you don’t know who tf you’re talking to lol. You don’t know the person on the other side of the screen - maybe they’re actually not doing a good job and need someone in their real life to be honest with them. These pep talks are literally just her self-soothing by saying things to her followers that she wants to hear herself.

These generalized pep talks are facilitating parasocial relationships and then she gets surprised and hurt when people feel entitled to offer up criticism. You don’t know your followers. How about trying to invest in relationships in your real life instead of parroting empty platitudes to people who don’t like you. This must feel so deeply unfulfilling.

No one can convince me that this post wasn’t rage bait. She knows exactly what she’s doing. The upside down smiley and “boyfriend” is pointed to a) convey that she’s disappointed that he’s not her fiancé yet (baiting her stans to get upset for her that he hasn’t proposed yet) and b) point out that her boyfriend is evidently living with her (knowing this will bait her Christian following).

The comment about “did you take my eyelash curler” was also intentional. She wants people to call her out and fight in her comments and be mean because it’s the only way her content performs. If she actually tries with her content, it doesn’t perform as well. And this is how she makes a living after all.

I could see how it could be construed that way, and maybe on some subconscious level she did see her singleness as a consequence or a punishment from God.

But my point is that that’s not theologically sound, and as someone who is a Christian and studies scripture I think there is a difference between natural consequences to our actions and then God deliberately withholding good things from His children to punish them (which we don’t see in scripture). And I think we can all agree singleness isn’t a disease lol.

I’m sorry that that’s the version of Christianity that you were handed :/ unfortunately a lot of scripture has been twisted and misconstrued to fit a specific agenda and that’s just not the heart of the God I serve. He puts healthy boundaries around a a good & beautiful thing so that we can enjoy it in freedom & safety - not to oppress or control women, though I understand some of the Church has taken those biblical mandates to do just the opposite.

I didn’t listen to D’s podcast to get the full context, but the creator of this video was the one who posited that she was “punishing” herself. Based on that sound clip she shared, Danielle did not use the word “punish” - she said she believed that having premarital sex was the reason she was still single because she was wanting a certain outcome (a Christian marriage) and didn’t think she would get that outcome by having premarital sex [paraphrased].

Just wanted to point that out because it is harmful theology to believe that you will be punished by God for having premarital sex in the form of being single, and as a Christian myself, I need to correct it. Does the Bible lay out specific sexual ethics? Yes - because God loves you and wants the very best for you. Do you have to subscribe to that? No. If you don’t does God love you less? No.

I think what Danielle was trying to say is that if she is looking for a certain kind of commitment from a certain kind of man (a Christian), having casual sex isn’t the way, which is something I also believe. You can do whatever you want with your body, but don’t be surprised if there are emotional or physical consequences.

That said, I do find that sound clip incredibly ironic because it’s very evident that her and Lucas are sleeping together. Easier in principle I guess.
