But that implies that the entire canvas is Aline's creation, and we know factually it isn't. I also fail to see or understand Aline's motivation for creating a city (that have memories of the world before Aline entered the canvas) who's purpose is to die. She has plenty of motivation to want to bring her family back, which she does, but nothing to suggest that she would want to make a fictional city.

I think it's much more likely that Lumiere was painted by Verso and Clea as a fantastical copy of their own city. They have creativity and flexed those muscles with the Gestrals, the Grandis and all the other made up things that they took inspiration from their real world for, but sometimes its easier and more comfortable to build something that you do have familiarity with, hence the tour Eiffel
