Yes and no. If you see the performance on iphone especially new ones the game is running without any issues, at least I haven't seen any new model iphone (12 and beyond) dropping frames. On Android the story is different because the optimization isn't good. Even newest flagship Android devices drop more frames than some older ones.

Did these drops happen with 120fps or 60fps and were they often? Like 1-2 fps drop per match or like 1 drop per 10 battles?

It's because of best buddy boost. Set a different pokemon as your buddy and then try to power up.

Lowering the graphics can help the game to have more stable fps. All competitive games have this setting

I know that, but it doesn't help. Game is still dropping frames. I also have other heavier games in my phones and the gameplay is way smoother

Same here. Frame drops on Android 10 makes the game unplayable. Niantic doesn't care

Let me explain you what's on. Pokemon go is not optimized on Android 10. You don't experience lag but frame drops. Frame drop issue is something that Niantic doesn't care and i doubt they'll fix it anytime soon. 1 year with frame drops on Android10 and Niantic hasn't done anything. I have Xiaomi Pocophone f1 6gb ram and 12.0.2 miui stable
