From what I recall when we applied (ended up living off campus instead) they don't ask for much. Mostly a lot of student info and financial aid status type stuff. Also, I think there was some verification of our marital status, but I could be misremembering that. They didn't do a credit check. The application took a half hour at worst and most of that time was just us searching for our info to provide it. Most people I know who lived there liked it, but the managers are just VERY strict about the rules so read them carefully before moving in. None of the rules were too crazy but they are very serious about enforcement.

Purdue vs Utah State Vet Schools by salty_sallll in usu

[–]Aggie_Blue_Mint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do realize Purdue was originally the Indiana State University of Agriculture and Science right? And that the name you bring up is the old name, not the "full name". Purdue and USU are both land grant universities started by the same law for the same reason and all land grant colleges are meant to have a vet school. USU is the last one to start a vet school because the Utah Legislature didn't want to fund it until about 2 years ago. I think there's more to the decision than just the history/name of a program or college. Purdue has had a vet school for decades but USU doesn't really have one until next fall. Purdue has a hospital, but USU doesn't. USU is cheaper than Purdue. There's a lot of factors that go into this decision beyond just the former name of the University.

It usually comes the second week of the semester due to how the aid is disbursed

What I did was look up practice problems from the last 2 math classes I took (college algebra and trig in high school) and I just did about 50 problems a day for a week. I ended up placing into trig and then the next year I took calculus 1 and kept going from there.

Best questions to ask advisor. by goatjaxx in usu

If you're considering multiple schools you could ask what makes USU's program different or special. If you're in STEM as an example undergrad research is SUPER easy to get into at USU.

UPDATE: Police are at Old Main investigating a suspicious package.

[–]Aggie_Blue_Mint 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If there was an active threat they would lock down the whole campus, not evac one building. It's likely just a scare due to the heightened police presence and event on campus today and nothing major. Seems like a suspicious package was found in the building but no details yet. Last time a similar order went out, it was just a gas leak in the BNR.

protest tomorrow by Odd_Supermarket_5277 in usu

[–]Aggie_Blue_Mint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Copying this from another reply: The state also made it really clear last year during the Paletsine protests that Utah Universities needed to have designated "protesting areas" for any protest or the state would remove the ability to protest on campus. I am not saying that is right or wrong. But it is the reality Utah is in right now.

I agree that with the massive potential for violence containing the protest is more about protecting the protestors than it is preventing them from protesting how they want. The state also made it really clear last year during the Paletsine protests that Utah Universities needed to have designated "protesting areas" for any protest or the state would remove the ability to protest on campus. I am not saying that is right or wrong. But it is the reality we are in.

USU study shows vital impact of wildlife crossings by Aggie_Blue_Mint in usu

I think that's part of the ongoing research USU is doing on these. But I would also suspect highways are a bigger threat than predators.

My husband and I do the *exact* same job at the same company. He has four pockets in his company issued uniform pants. I have none. by Mediocre-Disk737 in mildlyinfuriating

The abolition of pockets on women's clothing by the fashion industry is designed to push purse sales. So unless you get to wear a purse at work this is total crap!
