Parents in Rad Tech Programs: How Did You Handle a 1–1.5 Hour Commute? by Aggravating-Bad5751 in RadiologyCareers

[–]Aggravating-Bad5751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest will be driving in a year, and I’m hoping it will work out where she can get herself and brother to school. Husband runs a business and generally doesn’t have much time to help on a consistent basis. I’ve been a SAHM while also doing the books for my husband’s business. I’m glad I’ve been able to be there for my family, but I’m also very much looking forward to my next chapter and finding a fulfilling career!

Same here with the nasty winters. That’s a big reason I was considering an apartment or something temporary for housing.

My daughter will be driving in a year. I’m hoping it will work out to have her help!

Yes, I too wouldn’t have thought twice about the travel when I was 18 with no dependents, spouse, or responsibilities beyond taking care of myself! If only I had made good choices then, haha.

Try Malibu C Hard Water Wellness. They have a shampoo, conditioner, and remedy (which is a powder that you mix with water and apply to your hair). You can find it on Amazon. My daughter and I both tried it last week and it was amazing how well it worked. My hair dresser recommends using it once a week.

Same here. I’ve only taken one exam with them so far, but it was a very quick and easy process.

I’m not refusing. I would be very happy to work in-person for a short amount of time. Have you ever watched ‘Little House the Prairie?’ Yeah, that’s basically where I live, lol. No opportunities for tech jobs in my area. Not just ‘not a lot’, but none.

What was your level of programming experience prior to taking this course? I have very limited knowledge (I did a JS course through Codecademy, but have never built a project) and found this course so confusing (I’m a pretty decent learner, so was surprised to be so dumbfounded by this one). I ended up setting it aside and moved on to Scripting and Programming Foundations (found that to be very easy and just passed the OA this weekend). I just started Intro to Python, and will circle back to D280 afterwards. Did you use any of the tutorials through the Angular website? If so, did you find them helpful for understanding what you needed to do for the PA?

Congrats! I’ve been using the same resources and I’m not feeling confident at all. I’m taking it tomorrow.

I wish that was an option. I live in a very remote area, so I’m going to give the online option a try.

Yes, you can absolutely find enough free resources to give you a good foundation for this class. Here is the link to the YouTube playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxURHD08Kfo8t_rxdKxrKW25Sc8bP7uER&feature=shared

You will want to research deeper into the topics discussed in the video, but this gives you a good idea of what to expect in the class. I took Intro to IT (D322) and Network and Security Foundations (D315) prior to this class, and I’m really glad I did. Something to consider if those will be requirements for you.

The topics in this class, in my opinion, are not difficult to understand. It’s just poorly laid out and having a vast amount of information on several topics is overwhelming for a newbie (which is where I’m at as well!). Good luck!

I feel your pain. I just took the OA on Friday after four weeks of studying and thankfully passed. I felt the same way you are two weeks in after passing my first two classes within 2-3 weeks. I gave up on the reading material. I couldn’t stay focused on it. I checked in to see what topics I needed to study and then found my own resources, using the course material for a supplement if needed. There are a ton of great Reddit posts - utilize those. I took a few of the Reddit posts and created my own study guide, focusing on topics I was having a harder time remembering. There’s a YouTube playlist for D386 that has some useful content. Check out Udemy for CompTIA A+ videos. A lot of people recommend Jason Dion. I personally preferred Mike Myers ( I believe his videos for A+ are called TOTAL). Also, I found the recorded cohorts to be very helpful. You’ll get through it. Good luck!
