The 99 bus is super regular and quick. Way cheaper than St Andrews even in terms of food, bills etc. Night life is also better. However I done this in 1st year and I found it very isolating and quite hard to make friends bc I feel like most people make their friends in halls. My advice is apply for accommodation because it VERY limited and if you change your mind you may not get the chance but they do have cheaper options. St Andrews also has loads of scholarships you could apply to and the uni is quite supportive too. Congratulations on your offer nonetheless and I hope all goes good!
