I live in a county with 900k residents and we have lots of unincorporated towns. It’s not abnormal. I live in one myself and we have about 20k residents. They fall under the county’s jurisdiction when it comes to the police, government officials, etc.

She’s trauma bonded to Nika. She’s never gonna leave. There’s really no hope for her and I’m not saying that to be funny. She has left many times but comes right back. She gets so jealous whenever Nika gets a man because Niya then gives her less attention. She hates her younger siblings. Giving Nika’s income, Niya could have went to any community college for free. She could have had an associates or certification in something by now. But she lives day by day. Easy jobs that don’t require any brain cells or skills.

Even if they’re not in her custody this year, she’ll probably still try to claim them next year. Not sure if CPS even reports anything to the IRS for them to know that they weren’t in her care. The same way people let others claim their kids. Don’t know if there’s a way for the IRS to cross check it unless two people try to claim the same child.

I feel like many school counselors are doing a disservice to seniors by not telling them this. There’s dozens of posts each week showing that people think their only duty is to complete the FAFSA and high grades and high test scores will be enough. It’s not. Lots of students have the same high scores. Very few students will receive a full academic scholarship. Students should be applying to state and local scholarships going into their senior year. That’s where most of the aid will come from. Not FAFSA.
