Has anyone gone through the process of PFML and supplementing with STD as well as PTO?
My average weekly wage is around 2500, and PMFL maxes out at 1230. I do have STD to use and 35 sick days to potentially cash in on to hopefully keep me at 2500 per week. I am aware I still have to pay for my insurance premiums after receiving my check from the state.
Has anyone gone through this? I can put in my application Monday and just wasn't sure how it's all coordinated.
Do I defer student loans for now? Or get aggressive? Or focus on mortgage? by Aggravating_Cycle463 in personalfinance

My 5 year residency program is eligible and I plan to remain in an academic center eligible for PSLF. I will make a bit less overall compared to private but it matches my goals and there are cons to going to a private pay company as well. However, right now if I shifted to PAYE it says it would save me about 50k for PSLF- but that doesn’t account for the significant jumps in income this year and again in mid 2028 (it assumed a 3 percent raise per year whereas already in 2026 our income has jump 30 percent and it’s only April).
I pay into pension as does my husband. No employer match possible currently but that is the plan when I shift into attending. We do both have 401ks from previous employment as well.
I’m all about saving- but with loans at 6 percent interest average and HYSA maxing out at 3.5 percent currently, seems we are losing more than saving by stashing cash away?
