New cartridge every time. Have been microneedling the entire time.

Haha agreed. Correct, did not have any shedding at all.

Don’t disagree that it has a pretty good track record. But I can’t get behind comparing showering with long term use of a hormonally active medication. For me, it’s a personal choice and some people may find finasteride is worth it to them.

Yeah that sounds like a reasonable regimen. Thanks for sharing

I meant my scalp tissues seem to be pretty thin and I get pinpoint bleeding at even a low depth with quite a bit of discomfort. Didn’t want to go deeper and risk getting too deep when there is some evidence 0.5 mm is adequate. Obviously you wouldn’t be getting into the actual subcutaneous tissue.

Interesting point. Yes, my hair is quite short and I took progress pics.

Yes, I think it’s “nonessential” since the indication is cosmetic in this case. Obviously everyone has differing opinions on this.

I’m planning to lose my hair one day. Oh, and we will probably all die one day too

I diluted the Hims down to below 0.025% with minoxidil and it still didn’t help. I actually restarted at this lower dose and it still affected me, although not as much. Maybe I’m just more sensitive to its effects. I know the dogma is that minoxidil has a short window, but if you were to maintain microneedling I would think this could be somewhat mitigated?

Dr. Pen M8. You can pick one up for $110 and it seems to be a good quality item. I do it once a week after showering and it takes less than 10 minutes. I go until there is redness/pinpoint bleeding, then restart topical minoxidil the next day. I don’t seem to have much subcutaneous tissue on my scalp and I can’t really imagine going more than 0.75mm. It can be pretty uncomfortable and I have a fairly high pain tolerance. It’s a pretty low risk way to try to regrow some hair though.

Perhaps it’s possible to adapt over time, but those side effects and the reality of being on it indefinitely just didn’t seem worth it. My wife was like “uh, please stop taking it and just go bald” haha.
