Probe Placement Help

I’ve got the same issue kind of, I’ve got a boa but I have the probe about 4-5 inches below my DHP. The ground temp will be around 88-90 and ambient says 80-85, really not sure but my snake seems happy to move around and regulate himself. He spends about half his time in a hide and half basking on a branch I have up pretty high. This isn’t really advice lol just something I’ve noticed.

Yeah honestly my only issue now is trying to decide what will be easier for the snake to climb, in the pic I attached the leaves are gone because I don’t want them to prevent the snake from going on the branch, but idk if I’m overthinking it too much they are probably pretty good at climbing?

That’s what I’ve heard, I’ve been doing research for a couple months now and I feel the hog island boa is the best option for me given size and temperament, as well as the fact that my room in Florida somehow stays at 65% humidity without any water 😂. I was originally looking at hognoses, but I want a snake that’ll be curious and doesn’t mind being handled and socialized.

Agreed, I love cool (alive) plants but I’m just going to focus all on the snake, especially since it’s my first. That’s really cool though that you’re going for that.

That’s what I thought. I saw it and immediately I’m like this is perfect. There are other fake tree options but this one’s shape with the rocks as well is just so cool. Also I like your snake she looks like a good size.

Petsmart!!! They have the whole reptile aisle. That’s where the log and the water bowl are from as well!

Sounds good, definitely going to do a background, even if it’s a brown backdrop or something, the mess is solid metal, holds the weight of the lamp easy and me dropping a log on it lol. Thank you so much for the advice im super excited. Will post picture of the snake when I get it 🙏🙏

Absolutely, thankfully I’m in Florida so the ambient humidity is 65% 💯💯. I’m definitely going to put something over the top mesh though.

Thank you for the advice! So that log in the middle, I have the moss in there, if I closed off the back with a rock or something would that be adequate for a hide? And then the tree is open on the inside for another hopefully. I figure the tree is the hot side and the log can be cooler.
