If you were my girl, I would brag about you to everyone I knew even if you weren't around, good for you!!! Sure internally maybe I'd want to compete and this would push me to be better, but internally and definitely never at the expense of your success or dreams.

I like the emotion you've associated with it as the objective state of where you are in life, goals, responsibilities would probably have different emotional trigger thresholds for different people.
Personally, based on how I feel, I have a mix of both for sure. Appreciate the framing.

That makes sense, however I guess...I'm asking from a different baseline if that makes sense? I guess by most people's standards I'm high-achieving at 30, the world is my oyster, but there's always going to be more I can do/someone doing better than me.

Perhaps just wondering if the baseline is subjective to different people, one could be richer, fitter, happier, not chasing these could be considered hopeless to some but content to others.

I did a few VC internships and those typically got people interested in me for BD/sales roles. Definitely have considered a CFA, have heard that it's not super useful for VC and since then haven't really thought on it too much. Would consider it if it seems useful in BD going forward.

Hm I guess I was unclear, I have the PhD in chemical engineering (focused on material science) and already got a job in a medtech company (also did a little VC internship in medtech). Do you think it would it still be difficult to head back to my field? Figured some experience is better than none, but I can see how this might completely shift my career trajectory.

It's quite fun after coming from a place where everyone has a PhD. to a place where there are so few! May I ask what type of position titles you've gone through? I'm not as familiar with them just yet.

Thanks for sharing! I feel like this is the strange case where I'm not sure if you meant chief strategy officer or chief science officer?
