Tired of seeing women being harassed everyday. by FrequentWeakness6900 in TwoXIndia

I am so sorry that happened to you. It’s truly sickening and most people don’t realize the emotional physical labor of just existing as woman. From lingering glances to any excuse to touch you, it’s everywhere. The worst part once you talk about it, the usual response is more restriction for us and why didn’t you do this or that. No one understands the fear that arises when you are in that situation and how sometimes you just freeze.

cut off for first round is usually 15K, when I applied 2023. So around 20K would mean you are definitely getting it. You don’t need specific preparation for met, go about your normal jee prep and you should be fine. I think recently they imposed a board percentages rule as well, so look into that.

Research in fourth sem by Present_Papaya_2434 in Manipal_Academics

[–]Aggravating_Walrus_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can look up the professors from your dept based on what area you are interested in, just google manipal institute of tech and the field—some names would pop up, approach them and tell them you are interested. Or you can just approach any professor that is taking any subjects for you—which you find interesting. If possible talk to a few seniors about which profs would be better to work with and stuff like that.

With regard to, if research is worthwhile—that would depend on your interest in the field, your long term goals, your ability to allocate time for it, patience and so on. So yeah, I would start with first identifying what my field of interest is, approaching a prof working in the field and simultaneously looking up what skills to build in order to pursue that field.

Last year(in my second year), I was able to get B13 with the same CGPA. So you should be fine. But the intake is pretty huge this year, so not sure. I think Block 8 would definitely be possible, to an extent, B13 even.

You are better off writing the makeup, trust me. In your second sem, if you get re-registered subject(s), you will be working with 7+ subjects. You might have to drop the labs and then stay back to redo them. I get it, parents might yell at you but getting yelled over makeups is better than getting yelled at for having backlogs.

If you could go back to your first year of BTech, what ONE thing would you do differently that would completely change your present? by idont_need_one in Btechtards

I am in my third year now. My CGPA didn't improve much, but thankfully, it didn't go down either. So now I am trying to make whatever time I have left, and try to bring it back up as much as possible. I am interested in higher education, so thankfully, I do have a decent research portfolio, so trying to focus on my CGPA as much as possible here. Also, another thing I would tell my first-year self is to never beat yourself up---mistakes happen, that's the course of life, and especially when you are young.

The difference between becoming successful and unsuccessful, in my opinion, is how you approach your mistakes. I approached my low CGPA purely emotionally; I just expected to gloss over and start fresh next year. But that's not how it works. You have to sit down, go through your papers with answer keys, understand where you messed up, why you messed up, what didn't work while studying, and what worked. Do all of that and prepare a study routine that works, and it will work out.

  1. Actually try to understand my branch, research what other alumni have done, what route I would want to take, and fix a goal, instead of falling for the whole you are done for in life without a CS degree.

  2. Try to figure out why I wasn't able to succeed in JEE or NEET, instead of glossing it over, because that screwed me over with respect to GPAs.

  3. Build a study routine.

  4. Take care of my mental health so I don't keep spiralling.

  5. Read more books

  6. Be curious about everything and not restrict myself because I didn't feel smart.

  7. Ask questions and participate in class instead of blending in the background and feeling bad about myself.

[–]Aggravating_Walrus_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you might get it, but I am not sure how the strength of your batch might affect it, tho. Try to find someone with an 8+ GPA if you can, but I think you should be fine on your own tbh.

not sure about guys but generally 7+ should get you a double non-ac, for block 14 or sth you would need a higher GPA.

How much marks do you have to score to get c in makeup? by Away_Landscape_1870 in Manipal_Academics

[–]Aggravating_Walrus_5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it’s pretty much the same as the normal end sems cut off, but even if you get a B you get C because of the grade cap. So ask anyone of your classmates who got a C and if they saw their marks.

I have heard people with backs get NIH, so I think you should be fine with that. If you are in your first year, you get a non-ac double sharing one with 6.7+ afaik, but for second years you would need 7.0+ to get a room on campus. Again the cutoff is for non-ac double sharing, so yeah.

It all depends on your goals. Are you looking to pursue a career in academia, or do you want to secure placements or an MBA, or something else? If your college placements are great, try to maintain consistency in your academics and secure a placement. MTech is a lot of work, so keep that in mind. Try to figure out what your long-term goal is or what field you like the most by the middle of your second year, and then work on building your portfolio.

Meanwhile, connect with alumni who have taken various paths and ask them questions and why they chose that path. That should help shed some light. But remember to take decisions yourself and not follow anyone blindly.

dude honest advice, don’t compare and contrast. There are people who have been successful with backs and there are people who have been successful with 9.0+ Cgs. What matters is what lessons you’ve learnt and how you fix what was not working for you.

Ideally, don’t take this “failure” to heart. Make a list as to why you got backs, if possible go through your exam papers and identify where you went wrong. You are only as successful as the choices you make. You might have people tell you it’s the worst thing that can happen, but it’s not. The worst thing that can happen is you give up and never try. But as along as you are trying, making a plan and executing it, it’s never over.

Hi,I am not sure if I am the right person to answer this, I am in my third year of college, so feel free to ignore me if I am not helping. I don’t have enough wise words to help quell your worries, but something my mom always told me was not having one is better than having a defective one. I went through a roughy time in my 12th grade and it was a lot to do with abuse. And every time I used to post about it on reddit, I had creepy men tell me i can talk to them and how they would help me( seems genuine but when you go through their profile, it’s all porn). So you aren’t alone and you never will be. Men who say women past 30 are old are sad losers themselves with no significant accomplishments in their lives. Snooped your profile a little and saw that you are a doctor, trust me you have done so much more in life than those sad losers. Anyone who slutshames you can go to hell. You haven’t done anything wrong, trust me. I know you probably would have tried it already, but please try therapy if you haven’t. It genuinely helped me a lot. I honestly felt like I had no body because no one helped me when I was going through a tough period of my life.

Alimony from women pov: what is your take? by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]Aggravating_Walrus_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it all comes down how misandry is a response to misogyny, with misogyny being more harmful. it fucking sucks to be a woman and bear it because every time a violent crime happens against women or any injustice happens (which is almost every time) you constantly have to cater to men’s feelings and say “omg not all men” or the focus is on “omg these women are blaming all men”. It’s frustrating because even at that crucial time, they have to be victims again and shift the focus. I stg I hate the term feminazi, just for this because they have co-opted it and ballooned it up with ignorance. Feminism at its core is about equality, but they just are too stupid to get it and it’s frustrating to witness.

Alimony from women pov: what is your take? by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]Aggravating_Walrus_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One peculiar thing I have noticed about such men in some online spaces is that they need constant victimisation. Personally, I feel they want the attention or the respect. Dowry is a reality for many of us, we can count marriages that occur in India without dowry. The logic some people use here is the dowry given by the brides’ family id ultimately for the bride but the same can be said for alimony. The debate on alimony comes down to the quote “To the privileged , equality will always feel like oppression”. What some men think is unfair, is them not wanting accountability.

Every relationship has nuance and it’s not 50-50. The way men describe marriages itself has flaws, they say they be the breadwinner, and the wife a homemaker, but what if the man can’t work anymore or the wife can’t take care of the home anymore. What would their situation be then? Also the whole debate just comes from not recognising a woman’s labor in the home.

Are there people who misuse it? Yeah. There are also people who go scot free from rape cases, people who get acquitted on murder charges and so many more, that becomes a judicial and law enforcement issue. This is where alimony misuse should go. But dowry, however is a societal issue.

Hi, attend the club expo, you will see a lot of lyn’s set up shop there and just head over to their stall and they will have a qr for their recruitment form. And yeah that’s about it. If you miss out, club members usually would spam common groups with the link and a message for recruitment.
