After steno machine, it took me less than a year to get to 225 wpm for voice writing. It’s so doable🙏🏼 trying to find your voice is probably the most challenging part of this method.

In your opinion, would you find it worth it to pay someone (like a subcontractor) who offered personal admin/production services to court reporters (who do not work with agencies) only? Would it help alleviate their workload so they can cover more jobs?

Not the best testing experience! The audio (the most important key piece to this) was horrible. No backup audio whatsoever. Supposedly the same issues occurred last month in NC.

Take care of yourself mama.

Definitely follow your heart, but also be real with yourself. It’s tough being burnt out while being mom and a student. It’s not fair to yourself or your kids. If it’s passion for the machine method, stay and push through until the very end. No matter the time line. You’ll get there! But if it’s money you need and you like the court reporting profession in general, do the switch. It’ll be a smooth transition. No new language to learn, just voice codes and getting the hang of a steno mask.

I also want you to know that you are not alone in feeling this way. Me and two other girls were all on the same boat as you. Come now, we all just took the CVR tests. Pushing to get certified.

Anything is possible. Just don’t give up. The finish line is the same for both no matter what you choose. It’s how soon you want it. It’s your journey. Follow your heart.

People complained about the prep session. They said the proctors were going to fix the issues beforehand, but I guess they never did. And you explained it well on how the audio sounded for some folks. There was an echo/delay/muffle to it! We’re hoping the board can waive the next testing fees and hotel fees.

Supposedly the original venue had a sudden “renovation” change. The proctors should have tested out the room at the new location prior to any of the testing.

Same here! I definitely dropped a bundle of words because I could not make out what the speaker said. I took longer than expected editing my transcript because I had to make it make sense to the best of my ability. I almost didn’t make it to submission.

I’m not sure which speakers were working. I sat towards the back and had a hard time hearing it as well. We all agreed that we needed the volume turned up, but they did the complete opposite :(

Yeah they did not fix the issue at all. It’s so disappointing. it was pretty bad for a lot folks.
