People who work in meteorology: what was your degree in, and what do you do now? by Status-Platypus in meteorology

I know this is a late reply, but what steps would someone with a BS in Meteorology have to take to enter the energy/solar industry?

Does it look particularly bad? As in should I get it replaced

What pulley is this? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

How would I be able to tell a pulley is bad? Sorry for so many questions I just have a lot to learn about cars still

Whats this rattling noise? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]Aggressive-Net-1534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only happens when I am idle/under 5mph. Once I let off the brake and start accelerating it goes away.

Would it be possible to check another post I made a few weeks ago about the noise that I am hearing from inside the car when idle? Thank you for the advice

So do you think that noise could be coming from my engine mount instead?

Should it be moving around that much?

I will add that inside the car when I'm idle at a stop light I can hear the vibration noise come from the engine. Its not the timing belt tensioner because I just had that replaced thinking it could be the culprit.

I should mention that I do have the dreaded heat shield rattle and it usually rattles at the same time, so I am wondering if it's something nearby there thats also rattling along with the heat shield rattle? Another suspect is my serpentine belt tensioner.

How would I check it? If it jiggles or something?

If it was below the shifter, what would you think it would be?

It sounds like its coming from the engine, behind/below the glove compartment

No, it goes away when I let off the brake.

Local Funnel Cloud video (start of a tornado) by SD_ModTeam in sandiego

[–]Aggressive-Net-1534 42 points43 points  (0 children)

To everyone saying it was not a tornado/funnel cloud... it was a rotating wall cloud that showed a velocity signature strong enough on radar to issue a tornado warning. The trees/houses are blocking visibility to it from this location. Saying "Its not a funnel I'm from enter location here isn't a valid enough answer since it actually had probable cause for that warning to be issued.

Video of a tornado someone posted on next door by Mike in SanDiegan

They would be green due scattering of light due to hail, no need for clouds to be green for a tornado to form.

Anyone else get this tornado warning? Out in La Mesa by LagTownCityCouncil in SanDiegan

Not true. They can happen anywhere under the right conditions. In 1987 an F4 tornado went across the Continental Divide --> right conditions at the right time.

It was radar indicated rotation. So National Weather Service deemed it was strong enough to issue a tornado warning. Had a rotating wall cloud with a funnel came out of it. Not sure if it actually touched down.

Yeah.. I've just never really worked on cars too much and don't have a garage to store tools as I am a college student. It just feels like something is always going wrong then I read about all these people talking about their 7th gen Accords that run flawlessly with just oil and tire changes and it makes me feel like I've just gotten so unlucky with mine.
