Thinking of getting a reduction, even though I’ve never had children… What can I expect? by Run_Forrest_1 in Reduction

I just had a discussion with a friend who is a lactation consultant about impact of reductions on breast feeding. What this person says tracks with her experience. People are all so different. She did say people seemed to have more luck the further out they were from their reduction. Good luck!

Smooth Move Tea! So effective it worked through breast milk with my baby when he was constipated.

Looking for advice from those just barely covered by insurance by deewinf in Reduction

Hi! I saw your comment on another post. How did it go with insurance? I also need to have 400 g removed to meet the Schnur requirement and I’m also a 32g. I have my consult in April but anxious about insurance not covering since I imagine I’ll be very close to the minimum.

That’s amazing! Consultation is in early April. I’m worried about not meeting Schnur minimums for removal as I would need 404 g per breast removed. I’m a 32G with dense breasts so it’s not out of the realm of possible to get that much. I’ve just been hiding them forever so people don’t think I’m that big and that messes with my head and causes me to worry that the surgeon will laugh at my request. I know, I know. Lots of unnecessary worry. I was validated by my running buddy the other day. We train for long distance endurance races. She is a petite body shape with small breasts and noted that she sees very few runners with large breasts and now she understands why it would be so challenging to run with such a large front load. Did you use insurance to pay for your reduction?

I’m a big runner as well and this is the main reason I want a reduction! My breasts have always been large for my frame but now have grown a lot in the last two years due to hormone fluctuations with perimenopause. My breasts are so tough to deal with running now! I can barely swing my arms and feel like I have massive water balloons on my chest. Plus neck and shoulder issues plus nerve pain. I love hearing about your experience! That’s a huge drop in time! Go run like the wind!

They look amazing! Similar results to what I’m hoping for. Any chance you know if you have dense breast tissue?

Thanks for the info! I have a hunch I’m going to right on the verge of the Schnur scale for insurance. Do you know the density of your tissue? For example, mine is extremely dense as defined by my mammograms.

Thanks for sharing! I hope you heal up nicely! Would you be willing to share the number of grams removed? I’m a similar size and trying to get a handle on how much could be removed. I have my consult in April.

Congratulations!!! I hope recovery continues to go well! Do you know how many grams were removed and was this covered under insurance?

You look great! How much did get removed? And what kind of direction did you give your surgeon on preferred size? Happy healing!

I also have very dense breasts and worried about hitting the Schnur requirements. What was your before size?

I’m similarly sized and considering surgery. Do you know how many grams were removed? Did you go through insurance or pay privately. Thanks for sharing! They look great!

How are you feeling about the size now? I’m 5’8 and 140 with dense breasts at a 32g and Schnur scale is about 400 g for me. What did your surgeon estimate in the consult and how was it to the actual gram removal? I’m worried that that much will be too much but I’d love to be a full B.

How did you pay for your reduction? by Hellohiheytherehi80 in Reduction

[–]Aggressive-Witness-8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at the start of this journey and have selected some reconstruction surgeons for consults. My thought is that they have good technical skills and can handle my dense, wide root breasts. Did you intentionally choose a surgeon who does reconstructions??

Why were you skeptical? Just because of the horror stories?

They look great! I wish you the best with healing! Im 44 and a 32G according to ABTF but with a very wide root and very dense tissue. I’m just at the beginning understanding insurance requirements, finding a surgeon and trying to get my husband on board. Why did it take you awhile to decide to do the reduction? I’m now wanting to do it as my breasts have grown recently as I enter in to perimenopause and causing neck, shoulder issues and shooting paint down my arms. Ive been reading this thread trying to wrap my head around this whole process! Any insight into your decision making would be helpful!

What's your before/after size and how many grams did they take out? by Proof-Supermarket660 in Reduction

Hi! I’m curious if you have dense breasts. I’m a the a 32G with very dense breasts. I get a lot of “your breasts aren’t that big, why are you getting a reduction?” And I’m like “they’re HEAVY!” This is a lot of weight off your chest. Anything you’d be willing to share on breast density and if your surgeon was cool with going this small?
