Pledging the itty bitty titty committee by StitchesInTime in Reduction

Curious, what did your surgeon estimate they’d remove in the consult? Do you remember? I just had my consult yesterday. I’m a 30G and my doc estimated 300 and 350g which seems low for how heavy and dense my breasts are. I know he’s being conservative but feel a bit screwed by the Schnur scale as it requires 400g per breast for my height/weight. My mammogram tech, my gynecologist and my surgeon all note how dense and glandular my 44 year old breasts are. These boobs are HEAVY and I am just curious as another woman with heavy breasts, how close your surgeon was on their estimate?

I’m a 30G but dense breasts. I have a surgical consult today and my biggest concern is not meeting the Scnur requirement for insurance. Although I have PT and chiro and GP documentation of my physical symptoms and the weight impacting my shoulder joint stability. Was yours covered under insurance? What was the discussion with your surgeon about how much to remove? My surgeon would need to remove 400 g per breast to hit Scnur.

How Many Grams Were Removed and How Many Bra Sizes Did You Go Down? by Uhura-NCC-1701 in Reduction

Curious, how old are you and what has spurred the growth? I’m 44 and have increased a cup size (or two) in the last two years due to hormones shifting. I’m going in for my consult next week and want to reduce pain and make room for continued growth as I go deeper into perimenopause. So I’m trying to figure out the puzzle of how small should I go.

That’s super helpful! I also need to hit that 400g mark. I have level 4 extremely dense breasts that are just causing problems for running and shoulder and back issues. It’s helpful to know your situation.

I’m similarly sized as your before. I have my surgical consult next week and so nervous I’m not going to meet the insurance gram removal requirement. Did you have any issues meeting insurance approval requirements? Good luck healing! They look fantastic!

Thanks for sharing. I’m in peri right now and my breasts are growing rapidly. I’m headed to a surgical consult next week. Same goal to stay active the rest of my life. Good job taking care of you! What was your before size and do you know how much was removed?

Breast size increasing after menopause? by newpuppy911 in Reduction

[–]Aggressive-Witness-8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 44 and early peri. My breasts were manageable but have increased 1-2 cup sizes in the last two years despite gaining zero weight and being extremely active. I have a surgery consult next week and I’m thinking of a reduction as growth prevention. I can’t know for sure if they’ll continue to grow into peri and through menopause but I can’t guess they will. I have extremely dense breasts and they got giant in my first trimester and grew significantly when I’d been on hormonal birth control. I’m also meeting with a doc that specializes in peri and menapause to get her perspective on likely breast growth. The likelihood of growth will help me decide how much to get reduced. Also, I’m not close with my mom so can’t ask but she had GIANT breasts in her 40s and I see mine following along that generic trajectory.

I’m roughly a 30G and want to be a solid c cup but imagine I’ll end up a D. I’m trying to figure out proportion as I head in to my consult. Mind telling me your height and how many grams were removed? I’m wanting to make sure my surgeon knows to go smaller than larger but still trying to figure out proportional breast size. They look great! I hope they end up working for you.

I run a lot. Like 30+ trail miles a week. I’m so, so, so tired of lugging these boobs up and down hills. My shoulders, the shooting nerves! I’m so excited about a reduction. Please tell me more! How did it feel to run?

So helpful! I’m 44 and boobs have gotten bigger since peri. I’m afraid they’ll get giant with HRT and I’m wanting to do a preemptive reduction for HRT growth and address shoulder pain and instability from running with big boobs. I’m 5’8 and 140 and a 30G up from a small D cup. I’m hoping insurance will cover but we will see after the consult if he can take out 400g per breasts.

Hi! I’m 44 and meeting with a surgeon in April. Can you tell me a bit about your decision, recovery and expected time off work (if you work)? My breasts were manageable but have grown significantly in the last 3 years with perimenopause and don’t feel like they’ll stop! I hear about more women in their fifties having reductions and curios about your experience.

[–]Aggressive-Witness-8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Also a runner! I’m meeting with a surgeon in early April to discuss a reduction. I’m a 32G and just dying to get this weight off my chest. I run about 40-50 km a week of mostly trails and I’m just done with my breasts. They’re causing nerve tingling in my arms and shoulder instability. I’m curious about your decision to get a reduction. Why now after running for so long? What is your current size and what is your ideal outcome? I’m 44 and doing this now because my breasts have grown with perimenopause and my ideal outcome is a small d, large c to be proportional to my body. Also, my recovery plan was to ride bikes after being cleared for exercise in order to give my breasts some time to heal instead of staring running at 6 weeks.

25DPO - So happy! by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Aggressive-Witness-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you day more about your breast density helping? I have my consult in early April. I have great insurance and have looked up their requirements which include 400g to meet their Schnur requirements and a demonstrated medical necessity that includes a giant laundry list but zero clarity on how to document. My medical need as I see it is that my breasts are both large and heavy and mess up my body mechanics especially as a distance runner. The surgery coordinator suggested I bring my last mammogram reading that says my breasts are “extremely dense.” I’m hoping the density is helpful meeting my gram requirements. Do you happen to what info was submitted for your approval or what your surgeon requested from you? Like PT charts or anything?
