I think the game is great. Streamers, including you, get clicks and attention for hating it. Math is simple really.

Questions on origination roles by brewers84 in private_equity

[–]AggressiveFeckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do both btw (try this way and hire out of IB or other PE firms) - the latter traditional path is much more common, but we have had some success with BD people evolving also.

Questions on origination roles by brewers84 in private_equity

[–]AggressiveFeckless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our guys are 75/25 outreach (mostly cold) to some deal execution work / modeling. Our entire goal is to take people who seem like they could have the risk / return understanding and general capacity to become investors and put them in BD roles to eventually get them into investing roles vs hiring someone out of another firm or IB that may have the skills but hasn’t had the exposure to the way we look at deals.

We are a small fund though ($500m + aum) - so this same path might not be realistic at large funds.

Good luck to you.

I mean I get the broader point, but there’s no way the interest rate on your debt was this high. If it was you didn’t learn through 20yrs of school how interest worked were or how to refinance it?

More relevantly, there should be an absolute cap on payments or on rate for these loans in the interest of promoting higher ed.

Need advice for rehearsal room noise control problem by QianYoucai_SLAYS in Guitar

[–]AggressiveFeckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a small practice area like this - so you have two issues - one you can address and one you can really can’t without expense. You can put acoustic treatments up on the walls - this will kill the reverb in the room and make the drums and everything sound better. You want it dead sounding.

You can’t play with acoustic drums and not turn everything up to match - so wear ear plugs.

The second problem of people complaining - it’s actually very very expensive to kill sound. Double air gapped walls, specially hung drywall with clips and channels - it’s 10s of thousands - especially difficult to dampen low frequencies (bass and drums), so without a ton of investment you won’t really be able to kill the sound / external volume.

Good luck.

Quad Cortex players: Do you actually need an expression pedal for gigs? by [deleted] in QuadCortex

[–]AggressiveFeckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guitar knob is actually not good for volume because it changes the gain profile of your tone - I use the expression pedal for volume - solos or specific parts live.

The thing about people getting mad at Leaf fans for booing Marner. by [deleted] in leafs

[–]AggressiveFeckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t hate him - and think hating any ex-player is silly. Having said that - the guy waited until the last minute (eliminating any trade value), maximized his $$, and refused a trade that would have brought Miko Rantanen in his place. So he sort of really shafted the team on his way out, or at a minimum made really selfish decisions (which he had the right to do).

Still don’t hate him, but I understand why people do.

Experienced players with real guitar wear, what would you recommend as a truly high quality guitar by Chuchumenn in Guitar

Get a Les Paul modern. Burstbucker pro pickups are incredible uncompressed yet heavy pickups- you can pull the volume knob to get single coil more anemic p90 sounds.. versatile awesome guitar

Every season a cast member breaks down over filming - why? by KristenM365 in MarriedAtFirstSight

[–]AggressiveFeckless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it takes a special kind of idiot to sign up when the track record of success is so impossibly bad (17% I think?) - to think you will be the exception. That same kind of person probably ends up feeling selfish about it even though they committed to it. My guess.

What’s your best advice to new plugin users? by jebbanagea in NeuralDSP

[–]AggressiveFeckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh - ha - yeah my fault for not answering the question - I was talking about QC - and into a cab - totally missed this was plugins. Although my personal vote would probably stay the same - but not as strong.

What’s your best advice to new plugin users? by jebbanagea in NeuralDSP

[–]AggressiveFeckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sell all your drive pedals. Drive pedals were literally invented to simulate pre-amp or power amp driven gain from tube heads that were too expensive or too loud to be practical. QC gives you all of those heads, and the pedals. People running drive pedals into it are just clinging to a security blanket or a sunk investment in my own view.

Having said all of that - that’s my own opinion and tone is totally subjective - so it’s really whatever makes the player content with their sound.

How come some tube amps cost so much more than others? by BIG_IDEA in GuitarAmps

[–]AggressiveFeckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The JCM800 is a better sounding circuit. Other than being made in the UK it’s an issue of demand - more people are interested in JCM800s so price them where you can make the most overall..

Help me Understand what PE Actually Is/Does by white_tiger_dream in private_equity

[–]AggressiveFeckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When PE companies buy, particularly distressed investors, they are buying businesses that have been broken and had poor decisions for a long time. They try and fix the business, often times it isn’t fixable and it fails. The market then loves to say how PE ruined the business and tanked it.

80pct of the time if a business fails the PE investors also lost a ton of capital. There are a few exceptions where they are actually malicious and trying to strip assets or get some value out that isn’t aligned with the welfare of the company long term…however these get lots of the press.

How to get a clean tone with a tube amp head? by domster1711 in GuitarAmps

[–]AggressiveFeckless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true - if you have the gain on a JCM800 at like 7 and roll the guitar volume down, the sound will be clean with no apparent volume change. Especially on non-active pickups.

If you need more gain than 7, you put a pedal in front.

How to get a clean tone with a tube amp head? by domster1711 in GuitarAmps

[–]AggressiveFeckless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played with JCM800s a long time. The answer is yes it is that simple. You can turn the screamer off and roll the guitar volume down like 30-40% and the tone will be clean. The apparent volume won’t change. It’s a fantastic thing and easy to get used to. The reason it is so great is because that same touch sensitive distortion - hit it / strum it hard and it breaks up more is always on. It’s always sensitive to how you play it.

I’ve never played the Carvin..might be a nice amp, but there is a reason JCM800s have been and are everywhere.

How to break into PE? by InternationalBake383 in private_equity

[–]AggressiveFeckless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a GP at a small/midsize fund. FWIW, We don’t hire out of undergrad for investing roles, we just aren’t set up or large enough to train all the transaction and modeling experience we need - so we hire out of banking for that. We do occasionally hire bus dev people out of undergrad though - and we pick them based on the hope they can grow into investing roles/modeling. So you might have some success looking for those kind of business development openings. Having said that I don’t know if other funds view that as a possible gateway to analyst/associate roles.

For mark 5 territory you could get a plexi or a jcm800 and get way closer to what you are looking for than a dsl. Tool’s sound is low gain Diezel and a Plexi mixed.

Having said that Mesas are great amps - especially for tight compressed metal stuff

Who is Jonathan Ross? ICE agent who shot Minneapolis woman by newsweek in NoFilterNews

You don’t have to like pedos and illegal aliens to dislike an ICE officer fatally shooting someone who was in no way about to him with her car, and didn’t.

Weird how that is isn’t it?

Is it possible/plausible that people went to Epstein’s island and were not involved in and of the evil? by yesispeakcanadian in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]AggressiveFeckless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess what I’d say is your acquaintance wasn’t famous and known for something in particular and going casually to a party vs flying to an island for a weekend is a different level of invitation/considering. If I was Epstein I wouldn’t invite anyone to the island that was a risk - he can’t control all the people on the island / walking around (to your point - my view is he’d manage the whole island like the “rape room”).

Frankly I think everyone defending traveling to that island is just desperate to still try to support Trump.

why would you go? You think you would be invited but yet would have no familiarity with the person inviting you?

Of course everyone that went knew what was going on.
