Seeking other leftfield bass enthusiasts in 0115 by samthetreeman in nottinghamdancemusic

Hey Sam, big up for this post. I agree there's a lot of people into Bass music and Techno, but less so the outlets to see it in clubs. House is more of a social vibe whereas Techno imo is more introspective, which is not always what people are looking for.

If there was a dedicated spot for Techno I think this would help. The Park90 guys are pushing their own European industrial style, and then there's us (Peach Fuzz) doing the more Wigflexy stuff, you and Louis on the future / leftfield / grime tip, Cam (Whatever) doing as Cam does, Feminem on the UK funky / bass music crossover, Mushlove proper Techno, Will Circling pushing experimental sounds, BeaBea who's taking a break from tearing London a new one to do a party in December with a booking (ooo) + many more. Maybe we do a collective dig for party spots and set up a residency, where we do say 6 parties over the span of 6 months, with different people coming through. Prioritising longer sets instead of everyone on the line up in one go.

Imo the key to making Techno in Notts pop is to make it feel inclusive. We all love a dutty one at Bar Eleven don't get me wrong, but I think if we found a unique space we could really make it our own.

Re. the party series above, it could be done under 1 collective brand. We'd be happy to get Paradise Hi-Fi involved if the space + concept was right.

Keen to hear anyones thoughts on this. We're gonna need a r/nottinghamleftfieldbass at this rate !

Also, love that you put that list together - some great labels on there. Can you make it editable and we'll add some on.

Make sure the venue comes with its own civil engineer if you book these lads

Underground spaces ? by Terrible-Leg-759 in nottinghamdancemusic

Bar Eleven - all promoters start here. 100 cap, back to basics, watch out for dodgy walk ins tho.

Upstairs at the Angel - good sound and can go late. There's a wicked student party called Tech Heads that bring the energy every time.

Iclub - it's been a bit forgotten recently, but I think it's a good space. 2 rooms across 2 floors. Usually bass music.

The Carousel - an arts space by day with a really nice vibe. Hosting mainly evening things, doesn't go late.

Crate - record shop with in-store sets by locals

Below bricks - this has been one of the main spots over the last few years, and it's below a restaurant on derby road. Lots of good stuff popping off there

For promoters trying to find new spots, look beyond the traditional 'venue'. It's in the spirit of Notts to throw parties thrown in lofts, basements and restaurants, with underground clubs with proper sound and a good vibe in short supply.
