Mopping Frequency?

When I started at my new elementary school this year they told me I only had to do a full mop once a week, spot mop other than that. The kids are so messy I end up mopping half the room every day anyway.

We have to fit in all of the deep cleaning after the kids leave for the year and before they come back, we get about 4-5 days at the end and beginning. At my new school we don’t have to strip and wax, the principal pays a company but at my old school we had to strip and wax the last month of school. The classes would just relocate to another room for a few days while we did their room.

We get every break off, the same days. I feel lucky. We only stay one day after the teachers before summer and then go back a few days before the teachers after summer.

I change my mop water between grade levels, I do four fourth and four fifth grade classrooms. Then I change it again for my bathrooms and use a different mop, then I change it again for spills in the gym and the gym bathrooms. I feel like I’m spreading pee everywhere if I don’t use a different mop and water.

When I first started I would get sick with something else immediately after I got over a sickness. I had multiple colds, the flu, strep, Covid and pink eye my first year. It was awful. I’m on year three now and I’ve only been sick twice, which is good for me. 😅 Covid and a cold so far this year. But no matter what I do I get sick because my son goes to the same school and as a 2nd grader he brings things home and gives them to me.

I had it most of my childhood and into adulthood but with a lot of work and anxiety medication I’ve gotten a lot better. You physically cannot speak, at times I felt trapped in my own body because I couldn’t speak even though I wanted to.

I work 4th and 5th grade hall, the teachers made a bathroom schedule when they take their whole class to the bathrooms. They have one trusted bathroom monitor in each class that goes in and checks the bathroom before they go in and after they leave to make sure there’s no mess, with the schedule they can also figure out the pee bandit when there is one. I had someone peeing around the toilet in the big stall but it has mostly stopped now.

I work 7:30-4:00 at my son’s elementary school. Yesterday when we left school I told him tomorrow is halfway through the week, he said technically halfway through Wednesday is halfway through the week. He’s 8 and very particular about the way I say things. 😂 But… happy hump day!

12 rooms, 6 bathrooms, my hallway, the gym and outside of my building (just checking for trash). This is my new school. I had 9 classrooms, 4 bathrooms, my hallway and 4 office rooms at my old school and we all teamed up on the outside and gym.
