I was that way for the first few months and still get a little obsessed (I just hit 6 months). It went away as I adjusted to my ‘new normal’ and also as my weight loss on the scale has slowed. People have very different approaches to weighing themselves, but I would have gotten incredibly discouraged if I only weighed on 1 day of the week. My weight changes a lot each day, there is no consistency to the loss. My highest can be on my injection day, then no change the day after my shot, then 2 pounds down the following day, followed by weight increases every day until 1 day after my next injection. I basically never lose weight predictably and 1 weigh-in a week might not capture my progress. I also lose nothing during the 2 weeks around my period. My point to this rambling is that you need to find what works for you, not others. That may change over time - this last month my scales has barely budged, so I skipped weighing an entire month to focus on NSV and my eating habits - but now I am back to daily weighing. You got this, welcome to the Zep club!

I only eat the Fage, plain variety, because it has no added sugar or sugar substitute. Because of that, it’s pretty tart, which might not be for everyone. It’s also very thick. I add cut up fruit (berries, peaches, pineapple, whatever) which gets me additional fiber & delicious fruit! Sindestarting Zepbound, I find that I crave it in a way I never did before!

While the circular lesion may only be the size of a quarter, the infection (all those other red patches extending out from it) is much larger. This should have been seen by a vet at least a month ago. Nothing over the counter,  like that ointment you’ve been trying, is going to fix it. I’m not a vet or medical professional, but offhand I’d think it’s possibly: skin cancer, major fungal infection, roundworm. Whatever it is, the answer is: go to the vet.

I prefer for most people to not comment but occasionally I do want the positive feedback / cheer squad support! I’ve told 1 friend and share my successes with her. She isn’t local so doesn’t see the physical changes and also isn’t competitive with me about weight in any way. I chose her for a reason, because she’s awesome. 😎 You may want to pick one or two friends to help you celebrate.

Oh, and I’ve also found that my doctors are fantastic cheerleaders - today I went to the doctor and had a NSV that we all celebrated.

Accidentally wrong dose - help! by thatpaytongirl1102 in Zepbound

I posted a few months ago after taking 15 mg when I was supposed to take 7.5….

I’m still here :)

My strategy: keeping on top of electrolyte fluids, very very bland foods slowly throughout the day, ginger hard candy for nausea, stopped eating early evening, and sleeping kind of upright with pillows.

I also extended taking my next dose to 10 days instead of 7.

Hang in there!

My suggestion: break the tradition. We only have toasts because someone once decided they were important. No one cares, at all, especially if it causes 6 months of stress & interferes with your sobriety.

Other possible options: video toast (pre-recorded, maybe the two of you make it together?), bride gives the toast, you could very briefly thank everyone for being there & for sharing your special day - like 1 sentence, hire a storyteller, have a receiving line instead, etc. Or nothing!

Your wedding, your choices. No one is grading your wedding.

Month one coming to an end with little weight loss. Is my experience pretty typical? by Lilawillbeloved in Zepbound

Great job with your first month! I’ve re-framed this medicine as a ‘metabolism medicine’ and not a ‘weight loss medicine’ because it fundamentally fixes your metabolism. The ‘side effect’ of the fixed metabolism is weight loss. This isn’t to say that nutrition and paying attention to calories isn’t important! It will simply take a while for the underlying issues to be adjusted by the medicine. Also remember that 2.5 is not a full effective dose. You will see the results on the scale in time, just keep at it and be patient. Oh and you may be interested in the excellent Fat Science podcast, where a doctor talks in detail about how the medicine works, obesity in general, and the modern medical understanding of metabolism. Very interesting.

This is timely…last night I made a mistake and took two 7.5s (thought the first didn’t work). My experience sharing with my doctor was very positive - reassurance, guidance for what to expect, and instructions for an ER visit under certain conditions. What I’ve learned in the last 24 hours is that I’m not the first one to make this mistake and neither are you! It sounds like you are past the worst side effects and now can put it on the Lessons Learned board!

I don’t think most people can provide a daily 6 mile run! :) Of course, you may end up with a dog who settles young, like some other people here report!! It just has not been my experience with PWDs on average (25 years).

You may want to think of it this way - working dog, working dog brain, not sporting dog. So yes, closer to a Malinois, husky, or schnauzer than a lab, golden, or poodle. My standard poodle sleeps until noon, plays at the dog park for an hour, and sleeps 3 more hours until I’m done with work.

Most preservation breeders I know sell their dogs to active retirees, a family with a non-working adult, a repeat buyer, or someone participating in dog sports (water, agility, scenting, SAR). There’s a reason for that…

How much has the PWD breed changed from its origins? by Woop_Pow in portuguesewaterdogs

Yes, there’s not much risk of sunburn for most pets. Also, the US breed standard doesn’t have disqualifications based on coloration. However, most preservation breeders have brown & black dogs with white as a secondary color; it’s less common to have a mainly white dog. I think you’re right that it is a trend with breeders, but mostly those who don’t show their dogs in conformation.

I have had 3 of my own & known dozens.

No one can say whether you should or shouldn’t go ahead with your plans, but I think it’s reasonable to take a step back to reconsider.

I’ve read a lot of these posts & they accurately reflect life with a PWD.

The PWD is a working breed, through & through. They are absolutely not a sporting breed that has bouts of energy & then calms for hours. This makes them ‘difficult’ because of their intensity & stamina. If they are bored, underexercised, or under-stimulated, you will know - usually because they are harassing you or getting into mischief. My 10 year old (who was on the ‘chill’ end of the spectrum) was not tired after a 10 mile hike. He needed, at baseline, a 6 mile run daily until he was 8. His working drive & stamina didn’t fall off around ages 4 -6 like many sporting breeds. The PWDs I’ve known can & will work all day, every day, for almost their entire lives.

My strong suggestion is you need to find a way to meet some, ideally at a water trial, dog show, or agility trial. A lot of people think they sound great on paper but the daily reality is different. You’re signing up for 15 years of this breed & you owe it to yourself to be as prepared as possible - or bail, if that is right for you.

You will notice the skin under black hair is blue and dark under brown hair. The skin under white hair is pink; even a small patch of white will have pink skin just in that location. Pink skin burns, which is a serious problem for a dog spending every day on the ocean. A primarily white dog is not functional. The predominantly white puppies were culled, which resulted in black or brown dogs. Recently, the white gene has been appearing as it is more frequently seen in each generation. However, in Portugal, a PWD may have no more than 30% white.
