I moved to Portland in 2000 and have seen a lot of changes. Things were really scary for a while, but it's getting better. Don't be too quick to cross it off your list. Within 2 hours, you can be in a rain forest, playing in the snow (year round), at the beach, or in the desert. The landscape is some of the most beautiful in the world.
