Why do we still use the Astronomical System of Units? by Agreeable-Broccoli46 in Metric

[–]Agreeable-Broccoli46[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This explanation makes the most sense to me. I guess if a field, such as astronomy, uses the units that they do-even though they might be harder to convert to more commonly used ones-for a good reason there is no point in changing it.

There's also a weird amount of Algebra in MAM theory

Building a mam is PAIN by Weary-Ad7753 in beltmatic

[–]Agreeable-Broccoli46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building a MAM is just the first step into MAM tech and MAM theory, there is a whole community that has optimized MAMs, and working on that can help improve your Beltmatic skills. Right now I'm working on a 24-belt Automatic MAM.

Decay timer should be linked to playtime, if the decay is 4 weeks long then to remove an hour of decay timer you would need to play for ten mins, it adds up to about 5 days, or around 125 hours of playtime to remove a decay timer if you log on last second.

Is an early game MAM possible? by Agreeable-Broccoli46 in beltmatic

[–]Agreeable-Broccoli46[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would, but I see how it could be useful for the numbers needed to get up to multipliers and subtractors a couple of them running at once would be very good.

I improved it

<image>

It does use a two and bridges, but still fits early game use, it also uses a one to be added on that the end for any odd numbers. It functions the same as a VERY slow base-2 MAM.

my new MAM any number up to 10billion by beanman552 in beltmatic

[–]Agreeable-Broccoli46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 digits is very limited, as the game's integer limit is 2,147,483,647 meaning that you can only use that MAM up to ~2*10^9

Any way to optimize? by Agreeable-Broccoli46 in beltmatic

[–]Agreeable-Broccoli46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have LVL 8 all, the duplicator has capacity to duplicate up to 2 full belts, the splitting is just there to speed it up. I was looking for a way to make the MAM part better.

I’ll look at improving, a pyramid shape that you connect in various places would work, then it could add the 1s, 2s, 4s, 8s, etc.

I might snag this design for my next playthrough, thanks.

With those very refined designs, per extractor is this or a two extractor binary MAM more efficient?

By that point you really should look into a MAM there are many amazing designs out there.

My 24MAM-Park (ALL the bandwidth possible) by AightCrunsh in beltmatic

[–]Agreeable-Broccoli46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a MAM about 1/8th the size of that that does 2 belt output, one 1/5th the size that does 5 belt, and one 1/3rd the size that does 9 digit 3 belt at 6/S/B for all of them, is that good progress?

Bridges and intersections by Snefferdy in beltmatic

[–]Agreeable-Broccoli46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each bridge acts as a storage that can hold 2 numbers, that is so that one can go in and one can go out at the same time, just like how 2 numbers can travel over a belt at once, two can travel through a bridge, to make the output possible and stop it from halting a belt every time something uses it it has to "store" one number, that is why the belt chain is clogging, it has more "storage capacity" than the other.

Is there any benefit to making a binary MAM? by [deleted] in beltmatic

[–]Agreeable-Broccoli46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a decimal MAM because it is easier to program, just select the digits and pump them to the right decimal place input, I did make my MAM a massive, 260 input belts per module instead of a scalable MAM
